Things aren't looking good at Bungie at the minute

I was under the impression Sony couldn't just take over. Maybe if they don't perform up to a certain level they are allowed to? Will be interesting to see what happens.

Got my PS Portal yesterday and have not been impressed at all. Had issues connecting at work and when it finally did connect it did not perform well. My deck and phone app work much better and have no issues connecting when I'm at work. Going to try it a bit more but if I'm not satisfied by Friday I'm returning this to BB and I'll just use my deck which works fine.

That’s bizarre, from all the reports I’ve read the connection is pretty similar to that of a phone. Luckily I don’t need to go into work anymore since I’m working from home so all my play is pretty smooth. You could turn it into a jrpg machine or something, as long as the game is turn based I doubt it interfere much but I also understand returning it since you didn’t buy it for that reason.

Yea I bought this mainly to use at work. I get an hour or so at the end of the day to do whatever and I need it to work. Steam deck works fine for that but I'm always down to invest more of my money into PS products when I can. I think the good thing is my phone app and steam deck both work great so it's clearly just a software issue that I'm sure will be resolved eventually. I can always go back and buy one if they ever get it working properly. Will see though I'm still going to test it a bit more.

....... they need to release this.....

Free DLC coming next week for God of War. Hearing that it's a Roguelike. I'm super excited for this, what a nice surprise. I love how they have the cyclops from the OG.

Rather Christmassy of SM and out of left field at that, being a roguelike! Excited to check out.

Season of Play is now live until 5 January.

We get discounts, profile swag (avatars), and hosted tournaments.

re Tournaments, I’m thinking Warzone, MK 1 maybe, and FIFA 24 (which they’re already marketing). But I’ve not yet read up on anything.

re Discounts, I quickly scanned and nothing crazy jumped out at me but we all play different stuff so have a look. Castlevania Requiem bundle (SotN + Rondo) for example is 85% off.

Picked up the Dual Sense Edge over the weekend. The steep price was a bit of a turnoff, but bought a new phone at Best Buy recently and got got $50 worth of reward credit and had a $50 gift card.

I had been wanting a premium gamepad with rear inputs and had a few PC ones on my list, but decided on the Edge since so much of my game time is split on my PS. The high price for the premium controllers isnt so much the turn off as much as spending that kind of money that will get stick drift in short order. I had been looking at the gamepads that used the Hall Effect to prevent stuck drift, but the Edge can easily replace the analog sticks so it swayed me over.

Taking some time getting used to having the extra inputs and forget about them a lot. It's really nice to remap stuff that's typically the L3/R3 inputs since I usually click them unintentionally. Was a little disappointed that I could only remap but couldn't add additional inputs, but after reading up on it understand why it's not a capability.

Going to get it going on my PC next and checking the functions.

Imagine if Insomniac made an Attack on Titan game using the Spiderman engine.

Pro Devkits are supposedly already in 3rd party Dev's hands

My hope for the future is a significant emphasis on the enhancement of mechanics and innovation in the gameplay arena. Stellar graphics are awesome, but it appears that the term ‘next-gen’ has been predominantly associated with graphics rather than gameplay.

The enhancement of enemy AI is an aspect that requires attention. Additionally, there should be a more effective utilization of the SSD. A Time Cop game for instance where you're jumping through different moments in history and the game instantly teleports you to that timeframe without delay. That sounds next gen to me.

Didn’t think I was much interested in a PS5 pro, but starting Jedi Survivor the other day, it reminded my that I’m always forced to choose between performance for 60fps or quality to get ray tracing. Gotten pretty spoiled with 60fps so always select performance. Playing Jedi Survivor the gameplay is smooth at 60 with performance selected, but I think any cut scenes out it in quality and there is a noticeable drop in fps.

If upgrading to a pro would grant ray tracing at 60fps, I would jump aboard.

From what I've read RT is gonna be better, plus Sony themselves have had a ray tracing team for a while before the PS5 came out working on advancements so it'll be interesting to see what comes from them and AMD
