I havent been giving a shit about platinum trophies for years. If I played Hollow Knight on the PS5, Id definitely go for the platinum. On PC, I literally dont care about achievements so I feel a little more free. On the PS, I feel obligated to get the platinum if Im playing a game that I love.

I'm not one of these people who buys games to get easy plats, and i don't try plat every game i play either. I only go for plats when i either love the game, or by the time i've completed it i'm only missing a few trophies.

I really wish you were awarded for getting plats with something other than avatars etc. Maybe a small discount for the devs future game etc would be something.

I completely agree.

I thought I tagged you brother, My bad!
That post applies to everyone btw.

man im still torn. I have time to figure out which platform ill get it on so Ill just wait it out
if MP/Coop is important to you, just get it where most of your buddies will be.

god private showings are so fucking dumb. Why bother when you can get more hype showing it off?
Simple.

Its because of marketing, and extending the cycle.

You show it to the press, they report on the game, and how amazing it looks. Adds to hype. Show the same thing to audience, theyre already primed to be hyped and already like the game. You just made the same footage last twice as long during the marketing period.

The thing is, these games dont appeal to the mainstream, they never will, and the people that care are already fans. Its just dumb.

This tactic works for a mainstream game like Cyberpunk. Following the release of a worldwide smash hit, CDPR suddenly became one of the more prestigious companies that the mainstream wanted more from, so the hype cycle worked.

Bandai seems amateurish with their marketing honestly. Over 2 years of silence, then followed by this mediocre marketing cycle. Its a joke. I wish I could help plan this shit. Its honestly so easy, and theyve done it masterfully before with the first Dark Souls game, which was marketed based on being the difficulty. Prepare to Die, catchy, simple and enticing. Its a niche genre, so sell a hook, and entice the mainstream. Slapping GRRM on the face of the game isnt enough.

Youre right. The marketing is amateurish, but the Elden Ring trailer has more views on YouTube than any other Fromsoft trailer Ive seen at 5.5m views in only a couple of months. Im sure GRRM's involvement helps, but the original trailer released 2 years ago only has half of that despite George's name be attached to that as well.

Thats simple, the next big From game, plus no news for over 2 years, means views. Hell its a well known meme about ER not showing to non souls fans. Same thing with Silksong, I never played Hollow Knight before it, but I knew about Silksong and the no news thing.

Does that mean they wanna check out the game? Nope.

Here's what I wouldve done. Minimum of two trailers a year, consistent showings of the game and some new mechanics to the press, whilst rolling out an immediate hook to the mainstream. Something like from the creators of Dark Souls and Game of Thrones, Conquer the Great Rune or Die Trying. Call back to the game's codename, a play on a popular phrase, and conveys what the From guys are known for. Im sure after months of coming up with a slogan, they can do better than what I did here in a second.

Go the the big cities of the world, book a venue, show pieces of gameplay to the public [no photos/videos], maybe play a demo. Sell merch. Cryptic social media posts, on new mechanics and how this changes the formula. Let social media carry the hype. So many things you can do to pump this.

Can we expect the footage to be made public at Tokyo game show?

Saw quite a grumbling last night amongst the gaming community with speculation that ER invasions are flipping the script – co-op now being a requisite condition. None of us are strangers to soloists dc'ing despite the practice resetting invasion timeout but I think that's precisely what From wishes to remedy. Earlier and possibly related, saw something about ER being 'easier' from what the studio has commented re: ER's higher level of gamer accessibility but, I'm not 100 on what's what right now. I want this journey to be equal parts pain and pride, art and agony. Not everyone can scale Everest – shall we demo a bit off the top then?

No one cares

I really hope ER is a tough as the other games. I hope its tough in it's own way as well. More importantly, this will be many peoples first From game, so it's crucial that they make the first area difficult. That way newer players can understand what waking up in central yharnam felt like for the first time.
