Multiplat Official DOOM ETERNAL Discussion

Doom? No. I'm playing on Hurt Me Plenty and am dying a bit but I assume that's the point of the generous checkpoints. I'm shit at inventory management so iirc I didnt have ammo to kill the last boss.
You have everything you need to fight the final boss. There are just times where you wanna hit it w certain weapons. You def want to have taken most of its energy before it starts electrifying the floor

Well now I gotta get there again. Time to watch speed run strats.

One of the worst speedrun games imo. It’s a broken mess.
Is it all OOB and shit I probably wont be able to pull off? I've done bull and demon of Hatred skips in Sekiro so I'm aight at learning things.

Yup, I think the record is around 20 mins or so. Very little actual gameplay.

I've been playing through Doom 2016 again in anticipation of Eternal. I like the game, but man, there is so much room for improvement. One thing that really bugs me is the aesthetics. The original Doom wasn't afraid to use some bright, vibrant colors. Playing 2016 today, I had to laugh when I came back to Mars and for an entire level my screen was just different shades of red. It makes everything look flat and boring. Give me some contrasting colors!
Aside from that, the whole "lock you in a room and spawn in demons" formula is kind of weak. I actually enjoy those sections because the combat is so satisfying, but I would prefer more instances of enemies naturally populating the map. I'm guessing that this is for performance reasons, though.
I actually haven't watched anything on Eternal, because I don't want to spoil the experience. So, I'm just hoping they improve on 2016, but since it was basically universally praised, I'm expecting more of the same, for better or worse.

Eternal is way more colorful and improves on everything from what I've seen. The movement and combat look deeper and much slicker

Resource management and upgrades are pivotal to Doom. It's actually a very thoughtful FPS and resource management is pivotal to the gameplay so I'd make that a priority. It's important what runes you have equipped for different situations, as well as what weapon mods you're using.

My preorder is IN, bruh.
Niiiice brah. Put mine in awhile ago after swearing after the shittery that was the Dishonored 2 release on PC that I was done with preorders. As much as I'm looking forward to Eternal, I'm hype about Doom 64 as well

I hope there are ways to disable some of the more insanely saturated parts of the color scheme ie the reticle, the hud.

This ain't fuckin' Rage 2!!! Dis the real deal!!!

I hadn't noticed them being heavily saturated but I believed they've adjusted the HUD and I think you can alter the color scheme on all that, not sure.

@The Clark

I know you said you don't want to spoil it but if you care to watch, this brief video I think will give you an idea of the color palette, movement, enemies, and combat. It's one of the bonus zones called "Slayer Gates" so it's purely arena, but from what I've seen the rest of the game flows more than 2016.

Thanks for the heads up, man! Wow, this looks fucking nuts. Actually getting a real Quake vibe from that clip. I'm so glad Doom 4 died so we can have balls to wall action like this.

You're welcome!

I got that same vibe. From what I've seen it looks like they've addressed the criticisms you've mentioned (which I agree with). It looks like they're trying to make it as fun as possible. I'm curious to dig into the multiplayer too. In another video preview I saw, the person said it basically has ruined Doom 2016 for them

Haven't watched all this but I'm getting more and more jacked about battlemode. My rock is ready to roll

Hipster Archvile for battlemode <45>

So I played the demo for Doom 2016. It was pretty fun. The Doom Slayers collection is on Amazon for $20 (has Doom 2016 and Doom 1-3 as free DLC). Are the other Doom games worth getting?
