The bonuses/stats and whatnot. Pure damage isn't necessarily the best way to go. You can go into options menu and you can opt for greater detail when you compare items. It goes into much more granular comparisons and also tells you specifically what you're losing if you switch items.
Right. But that doesn't tell me what the item power number means/does.

I don't know how they calculate it specifically, I just know that item dmg isn't the only thing that contributes to the power level. If there isn't some kind of breakdown/spreadsheet you can find online by now, there probably will be soon.

So do you equip based on dps or item power?

How is this game compared to 3? Does it maintain the skill swapping system that 3 introduced?

Sort of. You can't swap at will, you have to pay gold to respec. It's cheap at first ans then gradually increased. I've respeced about 4 or 5 times and the price is still negligible.

There's obviously similarities in the combat, but it's less arcade-y and you make more decisions. It's not about just blasting everything asap.

I'd recommend it to anyone who likes arpgs. If you liked D3 I'm sure you'd like this. If you were a D3 hater it probably fixes some of your gripes.

The Butcher can eat a bag of herpes cocks. 1/7 on that bastard lol

You managed to kill him??

I’ve only seen him once since launch and I was helpless against him

I ran back at a health shrine, burned through all of my health poitions and restocked when he was 40% or so health. I had 1 left when he finally died. He showed up in 3 of 6 dungeons I cleared today. Fuck him.

My face every time I see a boss skull randomly in a dungeon now

don’t quote me fully but item power is useless if the DPS is lower I think. DPS is a good start but it’s way more than that. It depends on your build.

for example I am a pulverizer druid. Build is centered around throwing out pulverizer move. It’s an earth based move that overpowers and also makes them vulnerable. I use an item to slow enemies. So ideally for my weapon I want a double handed weapon that has slow damage at the top (rolls higher) then I want crit damage, crit damage with earth, slow damage, and vulnerable damage. your other pieces of item will complement the build, more crit damage or the other damages, defense, etc. if I see a weapon that has higher DPS ill still trash it if the perks aren’t there.

Damn. I’ve only seen him once and I’m like level 53 now

Met him on two different classes. Early on with my sorc and got worked. But my Werewolf druid just brawled with him for 5 minutes and won. Didnt even use a pot for the first half of the fight. Druids are getting massively underrated imo.

I'm level 42 and just finished Act 2. It is bullshit lol

I've only come across him twice both times in world tier 3. Beat him both times

It was fairly early in when I ran into him. I was like 15-20 on sorceress and it was over faster than mcgregor-Aldo.

I did run into him on a Barbarian during the early access and put up a real fight, but ultimately didnt have the dps

World tier 4, level 70, and I ran into Butcher yesterday and absolutely mollywhopped him.

I heard his stomping around and figured, “what the hell”, and it was going alright until I bonestormed and just melted him. Once bonestorm and vulnerable hits, that bone spear slays.

Keep your heads up, Wanderers.. you’ll get to bully the Butcher soon enough.

also, I think there’s a rare chance he drops his cleaver.

What level were you when you when you unlocked WT4?

Quick inventory management question in early endgame regarding rares: after a while should I just take a further look at sacred items or do you guys check everything? It's so exhausting to browse through a full bag when you just want to get to the next dungeon haha
