Official Ask Tim Witherspoon Anything Thread

Have you ever thought of crossing over to kickboxing? (especially in the late 90s)

Do you have any experiences sparring notable kickboxers or MMA fighters from back in the day?

Big fan, is there a reason why you had such a short amateur career? The lack of a deep amateur background certainly didn’t seem to hold you back, but would you have spent a little more time as amateur if you could have done it all over?

What do you think of this Jake / Logan Paul circus fights... Money and Views / Traffic it brings to the sport and do you think it is here to stay.... By the Way. Triller does bring some decent rap from 2 decades ago to the sport... :)

Actually quite impressed. Being this close to the big fight with so many from the heavies in here I expected "What are you wearing?" almost off the bat. I'm proud of my fellow shertarders, but it's early yet.

I legit don't remember this, so...

How close did you get to a match with Mike Tyson circa '85-'91 or so? Just curious.

Why did it take you so long to get a title shot after fighting James Smith ? You racked up so many wins..

Champ,
Do you feel your lawsuits/issues with inactivity were actually a blessing in disguise? You appear to have left boxing with all of your intellectual capacity intact.

Champ, did you ever think that Ali would beat Holmes?
What was the mood like in that camp?
Did his team actually think he could beat Holmes?

1. Did you ever get close to fighting Tyson? If so, what year?
2. When Buster Douglas KO'd Tyson, did you see it as a missed opportunity? You were probably the greatest heavyweight that Tyson did not fight in that era.

looking back at your career, what advice would you give to the young Tim, both from a boxing/ training standpoint and from the business side of the game?

Memories from the Bruno fight, as that was the first time I saw you fight live?

Edited to add: It was a vociferous crowd that night, did this have any affect on your preformance, particularly in the early rounds.

Hi Tim. I was seated right behind you at the Grand Arrivals. When time came to ask your question of Deontay, you introduced yourself. It felt to me like the name Tim Witherspoon did not register with him at all. I know he is relatively new to the sport. Do you think he had any idea who you were? Thanks
