Yeah, so the reason that red states have terrible crime stats is because of the liberal cities. And the reason the stats don't reflect that is because of a conspiracy of radical leftist DA's secret suppressing the data.

California, Colorado, and Michigan are also top 10, and Louisiana just had a democrat governor for the last 8 years, so of the top 10 states for violent crime, 5 had a democrat governor, and DC is ahead of all of them and has been the bluest place in the country forever. Of the red states, Tennessee is entirely Memphis, Arkansas is West Memphis and Little Rock, and Missouri is entirely St. Louis. All of them have black democrat mayors.

A rational person trying to answer the question would *start* by looking at average changes in crime rate when there is a new DA, and then look into whether the change in DAs is more likely following an anomalous rise in crime that is likely to revert to the mean. But I think we all know that there's almost no chance of any noticeable effect, especially when you consider that crime rates tend to move together (change is national) so you'd have to also adjust for that.

The issue is that crime spiked during Trump's presidency and came way down after so Republican loyalists need a story to distract from that.
