Elections NYC mayoral race

I am well aware of what cahoots is. I am also well aware of the fact that mamdani wants to emulate that system. I am also aware that cahoots in Eugene just ended at the beginning of the year at some point. I keep up on all of this stuff because I was just telling my classes about crisis intervention training and how it takes some things off of police plates. Personally, I still think an officer should be paired with those teams in case it does turn violent and you don’t end up with dead social workers/paramedics-but in extreme left places like seattle, they would rather that happen than some poor social outcast be shot by the mean police officers.

And Eugene, I thought you were portlands resident expert?
And so sorry I outpaced your reading level and any drive you may have to reed gud.
This is how it is in Canada. No matter what, an officer in an unmarked vehicle goes to the call with a social worker. Often with a paramedic as well. From there they bring in whoever is needed once the situation has calmed down. But if the situation is tense , then yeah your getting multiple cops that aren't part of the social nav team.

Not sure where you live in Canada but it is not that way around me

Yeah, I've never heard of that shit either. In fact, we've had a few notable cases of officers shooting crazy people in the last five years. If the social workers were with them, they didn't do shit.

Another absolutely disgusting aspect of this race was how much money was spent during this election cycle. I fucking hate billionaires and I actually agree with mamdani that they shouldn’t exist. Billionaires across the country donated huge sums of money to cuntbag cuomo and tried to purchase sleewa by trying to get him to drop out to help cuomo. We’re talking about HUGE sums of money spent on this election, which is insane when you realize how much actual good that money could accomplish and just how disgusting it is how much money these people have-especially the so called “heiress” of Walmart who is one of the richest people period with over 125 billion dollars. What disgusting people they are to want to have that much money and to actually have that much money. Sure, they virtue signal by giving money to charities, but you can give millions to charity and still have so much money that you could never ever spend it. Again, imagine the actual good that could come from that much money. It further makes me sick to know that in this world, there are people that can’t even feed themselves and children dying of cancer while these fucks love the best life ever. Why can’t they be the ones to get that cancer instead of a child? But then again, you probably can’t give cancer to actual cancers on society.
Sounding like a Bernie bro

If you live in an urban area, how far to get your favorite latte?
If you live in the burbs, yes, that’s how it is.

Being a Republican in NY must be like being a blind person at a nude beach. What’s the point
I lived in NY before moving this year and lived on the south shore of Nassau County on LI. While the Governor is Democrat and the City is Democrat, Long Island is more purple and especially Nassau County. Nassau has one of the biggest populations of conservative voters

Sounds about right.
But he doesn't bother going into the effects of the crime rate spiking, or the mass retirements and resignations from the police.
I think crime rates spiking is about all he'll be able to accomplish. He doesn't have the authority or the support from the state legislature to raise taxes, so there goes his grocery stores and busses, but he might also be able to fuck up the housing since he'll probably get a few spots to appoint for the rent board.

And of course the people who voted for him don't understand market dynamics, and neither does Mamdani himself. The people who elected him aren't even actually New Yorkers. People from NY voted for Cuomo by 11 points, Mamdani won by getting chicks under 30, foreigners and people who've lived there less than 10 years, and can just pack up and leave again when the place gets worse.

Why does any of this is a concern to you as you guys don't live in New York City or otherwise? I at least live two state over and have relatives who live in New York. That being said he wants to raise taxes to match New Jersey and transfer the difference to
make busses free and subways affordable. Then tackle affordable housing and food deserts. Many of these things are already done in right wing states like Arizona such as free daycare and affordable busing.

Oh you love mandates talk he has an actual mandate 50.4.

the exact same in the UK. London has a muslim mayor. Non-Londoners forever up in arms about it. weird.

I imagine its the same for NYC as London, the people, outsiders really, who are so bitter about Mamdami in many cases are professed haters of the 'coastal/London metropolitan elite'. You'd think they would be happy that their hated boogeyman is shortly to descend into a dystopian hellhole that is both socialist and sharia law all at once, like a Shrodinger's cat jurisdiction that can be different and irreconcilable things simultaneously, as long as both things happen to paint it in a negative light.

i mean, given that in most cases none of this at all impacts the lives of the most vehement complainers, you have to suspect that there is some other factor, not entirely rational (understatement is deliberate). that is behind their angst and bile.

The Soros' are known to fund the woke plague. Socialists cry about capitalism and yet vote for a guy backed by a billionaire - what a convenient serfdom agreement.

And this happens before Mamdani got elected. Expect this insanity to get worse.

Just the terrifying start, wait for his promised elimination of the NYPD.

Along with the MadMani destruction of women's protection by erasing ALL Domestic Violence laws...ONLY against females, of course, smdh.

Yeah, I'd be getting out of dodge sharpish.

Well, that speech was certainly something -- quoting an Indian socialist after winning a US election.

You (D) moderates out there should be sweating bullets. Mamdani’s win and his Nehru-quoting socialism aren’t just “progressive optics” -- It's a flashing vegas style sign with Ralph Wiggum on it that says "I'm in danger". -- It's a joke to some, a meme to others, but the sign is just reaffirming the narrative here. Make of it what you will.

For centrist Democrats who built their careers on corporate donors, cautious rhetoric -- and d photo-ops with cops -- this is a massive red flag -- and I mean one that is past even LOGIC.

Can’t oppose him outright without alienating young voters -- and they sure as fuck can’t embrace him without nuking their own brand.

Solution? Popcorn. Good luck NYC.

Ah, turns out I'm just racist. (D)amn.
