Rumored NY Post reporter says he’s hearing UFC PPV buys are way down

For the first time recently I heard members of the UFC or WME team.publicly entertaining the idea of moving past the PPV model into a subscription service which seemed to be similar to the DAZN $20/mo idea.

They have the reach to get enough numbers to make this feasible and their cards are such watered down trash that hopefully they can't afford NOT to ditch the extremely dated PPV model.

Remember UFC is a company STILL running their business model based on what worked in 2005. For fucks sake they still do seasons of a reality television show, TUF.

After the ESPN+ deal times out they should go with a UFC app, flat monthly or annual fee which has everything on fightpass and ESPN+. Make it like Netflix, Prime Video, HULU, etc and target it as just another recurring expense half their customers probably won't even remember that they are being charged for.
We have a culture of waste and frivolous spending, this is the way.
You're a culture of waste and frivolous spending.

Pay-per-views are so freaking expensive I don't blame people. Isn't viewership demographically towards the younger crowd who are tech savvy?

Ppv model is pretty much dead at this point. Most people would gladly pay $15 for a monthly subscription

We used to have Conor McGregor, Ronda Rousey, GSP, Jones, A.Silva, Brock Lesnar, Diaz brothers, etc. all at the same time and in their primes and now we have Ankalaevs in every division...and inflation has increased, eggs are not getting cheaper...

PPV has run its course. UFC were really the last ones left doing PPV numbers but now its just too easy to pirate all the hardcore fans arent buying and theres no huge fights to get casuals. Boxing is on streaming, shit they did that stacked Bivol/AB card, lowered the PPV price in US and it only did 25k buys. UFC had a hot streak after covid but its over. Get that guaranteed streamer money now.

You mean cards filled out with a bunch of foreign contender series guys who speak no English and are happy to be fighting for 10/10 every 3 months not selling? You mean cards headlined by esteemed champions like takedown merchants like Belal, Merab and Pantoja not bringing in the casual audience?

You mean the few big fights that fans really want to see never get done at the right time? You mean the casual audience gets fed up with the over politicization of our president on every single card?

Yeah, well doing something no one has been crazy enough to do since The Great Depression has atypical results.
So in about 2 months time Trump killed the economy? Clearly you don't believe that and you are fully aware of who actually did kill the economy

What a shock! You mean the new breed of champs dont hold much box office appeal?
Hah, definitely not the champs fault…maybe look to the company running the show.

This must be the stupidest take I’ve seen lately by people. Blaming it on the fighters is wild.

Actual experts: Trump's insane, unprecedented moves are having a never-before seen impact on the economy

People on the internet: nuh uh

You know you can track the economy tumbling and rising with each tariff announcement, right? Leading to some wild speculation he was doing a pump and dump.

The UFC sucks as an actual fight promotion now as well, outside of promoting themselves.

Look at the evolution of the UFC posters here:

From pushing fighters, to pushing your corporate logo.

Of course nobody wants to pay $80 just to support Dana and TKO as opposed to their favorite fighters who are barely promoted.

My bad, I thought you were talking about the Democrats, who forced a lockdown that crippled the United States economy and the horrible decisions they made for the following 4 years.

I think it will take some time to fix the problems the previous administration purposely inflicted on the tax paying public to cause a dependency on government assistance.

I'll go track what the experts have to say from now on. The same experts who told me Biden had everything under control for the last 3 1/2 years of his term. (Sorry, I can't post on the war room for some reason)

Yeah, you don't need to tell me what you think, it all came from the same disinformation bubble we've all heard before.

Id agree but the line of champions doesnt match the marketing of the promotion. Could someone market them better? I dunno but the current consept has worked so far. So I dont see where Im wrong. And it wasnt meant as attack to fighters more of a view of current landscape. It is what it is. More of a saracastic way to imply that anyone shocked or surprised shouldnt be if they followed the industry even a bit.
