Social Nova Scotia Canada bans hiking

The whole can't let you go in the woods because if you need emergency services they won't be available excuse just doesn't fly. If that were the case there would be a whole bunch of other activities you would ban more dangerous than hiking in the woods, like driving a car.

If it were really the reason that is even more pathetic. How useless is your provincial government they can't fight forest fires while maintaining other emergency services? Even bum euro countries like Spain and Greece are more efficient than these loser maritime provinces.

This current fire was caused by the ol homeless encampment in bayers lake. They seem to have decided to have a cook fire...in the woods. While it's tinder dry lol

Lol of course it was. They're always lighting themselves and their surroundings on fire. How great would it be to have drunk bums heating cans of beans on their propane Colman camper stove in lean-to shelters near your property.

Weird, I don't know what to say about this. But I understand both viewpoints on this matter.

So here in Nova Scotia, due to the hot and dry summer we’re having the government banned all outdoor activities in the woods due to the fear of forest fires. This extends to crown (public) and private land.

So as of right now, I can’t even go out on my rural property without facing risk of $25,000 fine. Why dont we ban driving to prevent auto accidents too while we’re at it?

Insane. We already had a strict burn ban. Say what you want but I don’t think the government should ever have the authority to tell me I’m not allowed to go for a walk on my own private land. I’m blatantly disobeying it anyways but curious to see what will become of this. I’d love to get fined over it too because I think you could beat it in court.

I really don’t like how the government gets more expensive, powerful and annoying as time goes on. I’m sure the greater good people will shoot me down but no hiking on my own land? Eat shit.

As a fellow NS'er... I agree with the fire ban, but the mobility restrictions are a ridiculous overreach. The government here hasn't declared an official state of emergency (as far as I am aware of), and I don't think warning s of warm weather in the summertime will cut it in a court of law as grounds to support the charges and fines levied over this. Hilarious the government's point of view is that it is all those dangerous and incompetent hikers/runners/bikers... the groups actually concerned about their health and well-being... are the ones penalized the most in this matter.

What the fuck is in store for our future generations? Having to wear helmets outside now because a piano might fall on your head? We're just churing out generation after generaion of fucking people that really, really need to learn that life's not fair and bad things happen.

So what

No hiking? Anywhere? Fishing?

Retard policies brought to you by assholes who locked down parks and beaches during COVID

Did they ban lightning too?

Was the Liberals during Covid here. This time it is the Tories acting like helicopter parents.

No fishing, no nothing. Stupid asf.

The fire is about 10 minutes from my place. Even if it was caused by broken glass, the Tories are still going to skew the story to their narrative. It is dry as fuck here, and there's a lot of development going on in that immediate area. Because it's urban, they don't really have any restrictions like those whose work involves the wooded areas.

I don't buy the homeless encampment story though. I know people that skinny dip up at Suzie Lake almost daily, and they've never said anything about any homeless there. The authorities can see an "open fire source" from an area where the fire would have obviously expanded outwards and then water bombed all day long? Sorry, but I'm skeptical.

Its been a small homeless encampment for the folks who panhandle at the lacewood/chain lake traffic lights since March.

If you want an official source you aren't going to get one. That stuff doesn'tmake the news. Just go to the halifax reddit and see what haligonians who live right by there are saying.

Hey! We may be inefficient and losers, but.... what was the third thing you said?

A reporter asked Premier Tim Houston at the news conference about speculation the fire was connected to a homeless encampment.

"The investigation in time will look at the what, the why, the how — all those types of things, but for right now the focus is just on containing the fire, fighting the fires and just reiterating to Nova Scotians it's a risky situation," Houston said.

From CBC. While not confirmed, it seems like it is most likely what happened

The conversation among locals is fun as usual.

How are you inferring my wife has my nuts in her purse by my post? LOL, what are you, retarded?
Well Einstein, let me spell it out for you. You called people in Nova Scotia "pussies" while at the same time stating you hate living in the province. You further stated it was your wife's idea to live here. So, you are actually the nutless pussy who lives in a place he hates because his wife told him to, all the while calling other people pussies.
Is that clear enough for you, dullard?

Sigh.

"In the last 24 hours, Tingley said crews have responded to 17 wildfires in the province because of the dry weather and "activities that are happening out there that shouldn't be" — including the one in Bayers Lake. He said in the past three weeks, DNR has responded to one or more reports every day.

According to Nova Scotia's wildfire dashboard, there were nine active wildfires burning in the province as of 5 p.m. Wednesday."

Do you think homeless encampments were responsible for all those fires too? Just curious about your singling out those people for criticism and claiming their role is being downplayed for some bizarre reason. What does Reddit say about these other fires?

I mean, govts close beaches to swimming when they are unsafe. Total fire bans of what we are seeing now in Ontario is probably a better idea. But they probably tried that. I’m not too familiar with the level of fires they are seeing out east.

Sigh.

I am talking specifically about the big one that is within a few Kilometers of my house . I haven't looked at the cause of the other small ones that were handled fast, nor have I pretended to.

The one currently going by my house is a homeless encampment and Tim Houston tucked and dodged to avoid talking about it because yeah, no provincial government really wants to deal with the fact that homelessness is up 93% over the last 2 years. But there have been 6 fires at that particular homeless camp in the last 3 years.

Ill quickly google search and find you some. Kinda annoying since the wildfires are dominating google, but I suspect if I write "Bayers lake homeless fire" ill easily find some

At least I wouldn't have to breathe in Nova Scotia wildfire smoke. I wonder if it would be any different from Alberta wildfire smoke lol

The Homeless are a protected class and get special rights

That's pretty much the tone on R/Halifax

The folks wanting to lynch folks for ignoring the "don't go in the woods" ban when they assumed it was a hiker have done a complete about face and are now "this is the government's fault. Those people had nowhere to go and need fire to cook"

No, still spoken like a mongoloid who has no sense of chronology in a topic. It was a nice attempt chief, lol.

End of the day, province is littered with dummies and pussies....as originally noted. Just ask @Halifax, he can confirm.

The most understated waving of the white flag in Sherdog history. May your vagina be cooled by the ocean breezes of the maritimes.

Fair enough. That certainly puts it in a different light. It sounds like putting resources into surveillance of the area in the short term and helping the people there find housing in the longer term are warranted.
