Another problem with ww is a lot of the top guys especially the young ones are all out of kill cliff iirc. So shavkat, Ian Garry and Gilbert have said they won’t fight unless it’s for a belt. Makes matchmaking hard if nearly a third of your top ten won’t fight each other

Welterweight has a history of the top 5 rank squatting and preventing the division from moving. We used to have Burns in the top 5 willing to fight anyone but he's old now.

Garry and Gilbert have never said that. Gilbert is the complete opposite of that, he's been the one willing to fight anyone.

WW is just a different level of log-jammed from the other divisions. The Usman-Covington-Masvidal trinity froze the division for at least two years, and now we'll have Usman, Edwards, and Covington realistically squatting as long as possible. At LW Poirier, Gaethje, and Charles all eventually gave a shot to young bucks.

Whilst I agree that they play a part, it is ultimately up to the fighter when they fight. If they're ready to go, they let Dana know. Something will be sorted at some point. There's no limit.

This inactivity is not purely due to Dana and Hunter

Most fighters are contractually offered 3 fights a year, I have friends in the UFC so this is not just hearsay.

Been saying it for some time. In terms of the actual skills/dynamics/entertainment to expectations ratio this is the worst division. I mean this division has the largest pool to draw talent from (most males are in this weight category) yet we get title fights like Woodley Till and Leon Belal from time to time. Usman was active but fought 3 guys twice in his title fights run which were far from the best fighters in UFC skillwise.
