There tend to be two quite different styles of gangster film a I would say, stuff like Goodfellas which is pretty snappy and deals strongly with the day to day lives of gangsters and the Godfather style of epic drama which is heavier on the slow atmosphere. As a huge fan of the mafia and mobster genre I have to say I really, really struggled with The Godfather. To me its way too long, self indulgent and boring - I expect to take a lashing on here for that statement but I've tried several times and I just can't get along with it.
I have a leg sleeve going on with all the guys from Sopranos, Goodfellas, Bronx Tale etc... my Tattooist asked me if I was having any Godfather characters added and I said "No" - he was taken aback and said its a classic but I just didn't like it so I don't want it on me just because its a 'classic'
You need to catch these hands

Oh I know lol. But shipping a tape, at least in Canada, is $20 alone. So you see I’m not interested in paying $30 for a tape I once bought for 25 cents lol. My own stupidity. They’re not rare or worth anything. You can get one on eBay for less than $10.
gtfo
I’ll never understand the hype for this movie. I’ve tried watching several times too.
They are both masterpieces in their own rightNo country for old men
There will be blood.
Harley Kiktel was a pretty big star but the rest were either washed up or unknown???
The only "big star" in this film was Bruce Willis.
Everybody else was B-list, at best, when this was released.
Brother Idk what to tell you if you think the Godfather is a 'slow' movie. Stalker is a slow movie, so is 2001 (both are incredible btw), the Godfather is long but it definitely isn't slow. A lot goes down over those three hours. Lots of incredible set pieces, character performances, all with impeccable cinematography and an iconic score. I get that its slower paced than goodfellas but its a different kind of mob movie. Its like going to the opera. As a huge fan of the mafia and mobster genre I have to say I really, really struggled with The Godfather. Again really I think "gangster film" isnt really that great a guide for the style of films same as "sci fi" isnt. Stuff like the Godfathers or Once Upon A Time In America are just very different kinds of films to Goodfellas same as Stalker or even Blade Runner are very different films to say Nolan sci fi thrillers.Brother Idk what to tell you if you think the Godfather is a 'slow' movie. Gotta love the midget thoughNot a movie but Twin Peaks is massively overrated. The first 1/3 of the show is awesome. The last 2/3 is nonsensical dogshit.
I think the first season being much better than the second is pretty universally agreed on.Not a movie but Twin Peaks is massively overrated. The first 1/3 of the show is awesome. The last 2/3 is nonsensical dogshit.
I was also including the new season where it just is absolute crapI think the first season being much better than the second is pretty universally agreed on.
First season is mostly Lynch and Frost. second season is trying to run it like a regular network show with others writing and directing cranking out 20 episodes.
