Non-thread Worthy Boxing News Part 5

Joseph Parker announcing his next fight in Melbourne Australia this morning apparently, not sure who the opponent is, I'm going to guess Faiga Opelu. Can't be too many options for someone of his calibre to fight down here, Demsey McKean is with Matchroom so that would be doubtful.

Also on the card Joel Taylor (c) v Ben Horn for the Australian Welterweight championship

On top of all the other stupidity, Teofimo is spouting off racial shit now.

...and LOL at him claiming that he slipped in the first round against Kambosos and calling anybody who said it was a KD biased.

When Kambosos was on Rogan's pod he explained how he set up that right hand in a bit of detail, yeah hard to say it was a slip even before hearing the explanation.

Ryan Garcia will continue his career at a higher weight and under the tutelage of a new head cornerman.

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Garcia has parted ways with veteran trainer Joe Goossen. The split comes a little more than a year after the two joined forces in early 2022, working just three fights together and which ended with Garcia’s lone career defeat when he was stopped by unbeaten star Gervonta Davis in the seventh round of their April 22 super fight at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Neither Goossen nor Golden Boy Promotions’ chairman Oscar De La Hoya joined Garcia during the post-fight press conference.

That said, no firm reason behind the split was provided to Boxing Scene, who was otherwise able to confirm the development through two sources close to the situation shortly after ESPN.com boxing insider Mike Coppinger first broke the news via social media.

Always a good sign.

The way Michel Soro got rear ended against Magomed Kurbanov in Ekatarinburg is almost comical. First Kurbanov leans on one of his guys on the scales to make weight, then he gets an even greater gift on the cards than he did against Liam Smith. Pure comedy.

If he gets anywhere near elite competition at 154 he’ll get absolutely wrecked.

Soro confirmed that :

1/ Kurbanov’s people paid him good money for the fight to go on after the weight-in incident
2/ There was no testing for PEDs in a fight between ranked professionals.

Epic farce.

Hosea Burton gets starched last night, after being upon the cards imo.

The Italian Abbes Mouhiidine got robbed in the HW final against the Russian Muslim Gafzhimagomedov at the IBA WC:

I really want to see Abbes in the pro ranks at CW. The guy's only 24 years old and his speed + reflexes are great. Looks like a bigger, a bit more offensive minded version of Clemente Russo.

Fury in talks with McKean apparently, utter dogshit of a fight.

Yeah he was at a local boxing event here in Melbourne last night (I went along). Apparently they want to do the fight in Australia, hence Tyson Fury's appearance last night, and to support Joseph Parker who main vented.

Parker fought a former Aust champ Faiga Opelu, knocked him out in the first round. Parker a class above but he did look great, think he was only 108kg which is light for him I believe.
