Meh. The fight with Stevenson was there if he wanted and he chose to sign an exclusive HBO contract instead.

Kovalev is a good fighter and fun to watch but you can't criticize a guy for ducking when you've ducked the fight too.

Apparently Lomachenko is no longer interested in a Walters fight. Bit of a shame, I think, though I guess it's understandable that Lomachenko doesn't want to fight at SFW even if it is for a very interesting opponent in an interesting fight.

I heard that. From the sounds of it, he's just title hunting and since Walters has no title, he's not interested. Makes sense, get the titles and build yourself up to let a fight marinate for a bit.

I don't particularly understand title hunting for a fighter who is already somewhat established and being pushed by HBO, but whatever. I can understand why the Walters fight is too much of a risk, though, and it's understandable Lomachenko doesn't want a fighter who might have up to 10 pounds on him on fight night (not that such a discrepancy is unheard of in the sport and Lomachenko certainly isn't undersized for FW, but Walters is really dangerous, probably can't make the FW limit, and, as I said before, Lomachenko doesn't need to take a risk in order to get a push from a network). It's a shame we're going to miss what was an extremely interesting matchup, though.
