Nog's all time status

Fedor probably would got KOed by Ngannou and Tom. DC, Cain and probably Stipe would just ragdolled him
Werdum would be number 3? Sorry, no way. He couldn't beat Overeen and Arlovski, let alone DC, Stipe or Francis

All in their prime:

1. Jones
2. Cain
3. Aspinall
4. DC
5. Miocic
6. Fedor
7. Francis
8. JDS
9. Mirko
10. Overeen
11. Werdum
12. Minotauro
13. Barnett
14. Brock
15 . Couture
I like your list... Prime Cain vs Jon.. i have no idea who would win... i think Fedor could beat Stipe but have a hard time seeing him beat prime DC

I rate Werdum higher than you because i really liked how good his striking got at the latter part of his career. Mentally though... he did some weird dumb stuff half the time

i've always ranked CroCop above Nog, but it's more a fixation of mine that an objective take.
Crocop lost to Nog but he beat the crap out of him before getting caught in the sub, i've always thought that Mirko'd have won 9 out of 10 times.
i've always seen him just a little behind Fedor.

Its just that for all that beating he gave him, Nog took Mirko down and it was over just like that.

I think Mirko's ground has improved after that fight. He was at the ground with grappler monsters as Barnett and Fedor and they couldn't sub him

Fedor didnt really try to sub him though. The Barnett fights I cant remember that well. If we dont count the one where his shoulder blows out, I remember most of those fights being on the feet.

Never understood how anyone can rank Stipe ahead of Nog.

Nog beat guys in their prime. Stipe dispatched senior citizens.
Stipe Gets more credit for beating up old guys than any fighter I've ever seen. It's ridiculous. What is his best prime win even? Green Francis? About to retire DC?

That feels pretty unfair as in a real fight it would have been Nog getting beat up sure, then choking Crocop to death.

Stipe's actual accomplishment vs his contemporaries is going 1-1 with Francis.....and I guess that "epic" triology with DC, where they were both pushing 40 and eyepoking the shit out of each other.

Nog fought a murder row of top HWs in their primes. It's not even comparable.

After watching him dispatch Goodridge and Coleman, I figured he would beat everyone. I was shocked at the first Fedor fight when Nog lost the title. He's arguably number 2 in his prime.
back when threads from this time existed on sherdog, you can see people then too were shocked Fedor destroyed Nog like that

Honestly? I’d have

1.fedor
2.Cain
3. Werdum
4. DC
5. Stipe
6. JDS
7. Francis
8. Big Nog
9. Overeem
10. Brock
11. Crocop

This is what I think the rankings would be today if they were all in their prime and had to fight each other in a tournament.

That said I wouldn’t be surprised if DC or Cain won the tournament.. I also wouldn’t be surprised if JDS won it…

If your talking just accolades and rankings at the time the fights happened it’s like fedor nog Cain then everyone else

Stipes best win is Francis… every other win was against an old legend… he lost to JDS when JDS wasn’t broken…. Everyone else was completely shot… even his DC wins were when DC was past 40
Werdum meets the shadowrealm in any matchup against Francis. I don't think any version of Werdum beats Stipe either. I'd pick DC to beat him too. Overeem too. Prime JDS too

Werdum beat Overeem once and was robbed vs him the 3rd time.

I'm not sure why you think him beating Overeem is impossible.

What's fucking insane to me is people downplay Fedor and Nog, when the generation of heavyweights that came after didn't have nearly the longevity, and didn't do as much when they WERE in their prime. Nog and Fedor got decade+ primes and people said oh that's crap, magically hws should be in their prime until they're 40. Oh yeah? Where the fuck are Cain, JDS, and Stipe then? Looks to me like none of them got anywhere near a decade on top. 5-6 years at best and again they did less with the time as well.

What can you do though, some people just don't know what the hell they're watching.

It's Sherdog man. A lot of people here live vicariously through the UFC brand to make up for their pitiful personal lives, and a lot are noobs who think every fighter who was old by the time they started watching always sucked.

Nog will always be #2 for me. Up until his fights with Fedor, he was consensus #1 by a long shot.
Even after his first loss to Fedor, people argued that he was #1 and would win the rematch as he went on a tear right after beating Ricco, Mirko, Yokoi, Herring, and Kharnitonov.

Legendary fighter, huge community member that does a ton of charity, and a man with a wonderful sense of humor who even laughed at the Chael carrot bus bit even though people would annoy him with it any time he posted pictures of his horses lol

NOGUEIRA BROTHER ZHU ZHITSU FOR LIFE

Random, but have you ever seen the original opening of Lethal Weapon?

That last bit though. It's so crazy to me. I started watching in 2007. Plenty of guys were on losing streaks, some guys were about to never win a meaningful fight again. But I don't think Chuck had a glass jaw or Wand was always a slow plodding brawler. Because you can go and find fights from before you cared about mma, and go and watch them.
I mean if not for that I wouldn't know about Pride at all. What a huge loss. But I suppose it's easier to be ufc only nowadays there really isn't much else anymore. Back in the day you HAD to follow other orgs if you really liked mma or you would miss far too much.

I've seen this original "first" scene as in the "Mel Gibson stops a school shooting" indeed, if that's the one you mean <lol>

If you mean the one that replaces the Christmas song opening with him in a bar fight, I just saw it for the first time. Hip toss into arm break, Mel Gibson would have been the 185 GOAT.

Gibson by triangle

(you're damn right that's Mel throwing up a triangle choke 6 years before the UFC even existed)
