No more masters in the ufc, where are the new jacare or demian maia that will give khamzat real problems

I don't get this weird obsession that some BJJ guy is the answer. When have these Dagi/Chechen elite guys ever looked remotely vulnerable to BJJ? I'd actually back Chimaev to tap RDR out, not the other way around. They seem to immune to submissions on the ground.

Do you honestly think he was scared to grapple Burns?

I think he was wary of Burns skills and wasn't ready to dive into grappling exchanges with him the same way he does with others.

When he had him hurt and was bombing on him Burns briefly locked down an arm and that was enough for Khamzat to completely nope out of it.

Makes sense really. His BJJ coach has had very competitive BJJ matches with Burns and I'm sure his coach has folded Chimaev up like a pretzel during pure BJJ sparring every once in a while.

Yeah, but there is a world of difference between fighting smart and being scared.

Additionally, the Burns fight was his first big step up in competition, and at WW. I feel like current MW champ Khamzat is a different animal.

Yeah for sure, scared is a stupid word to use.

This was three years into his pro career as well.

This is an important point.

That was purple belt Khamzat with about 4 years of training.

Now he's a black belt with almost double the experience.

Even in the Burns-fight, I would have still favored him to be able to smother him with top control more often than getting subbed, if he had committed to it 100%.

Kade Ruotolo seems to be taking to MMA so far with 3 smooth first round subs and his brother who's closer to MW size is debuting too though at WW I think
if Khamzat sticks around long enough maybe crossing paths with the latter isn't impossible

The new Paramount era of the UFC

Almost halfway there

Who is the second guy?

Merab should be added as well.

The truth is Dana loves Khabib, Khamzat, and Islam as champs because they were all stars so they should not be listed, and now Topuria the Georgian as well. They make him money.

The rest not so much.
