NINTENDO SWITCH Official Discussion v2: Nintendo's Big Comeback Starter Pack

4 hours to go to get off of work, and pick up my Switch. Been sitting in training the last 2 days literally listening to a guy talking for the last 12 hours. My focus has not been close to where it should be.

wait what? are you saying there weren't any good games for SNES?... or any other good games on SNES launch? I think the other golden classic launch game was FZero.. Definitely a classic. But if you are saying SNES didn't have any great games that I must profusely disagree with you... Final Fantasy VI, Mega Man X, Super Metroid, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Chrono Trigger, Mario Kart, Castlevania IV, Starfox, Street Fighter II:TE, MK and MK II.. and on and on...

nope, i am saying, that if that was the original SNES launch lineup, you could basically splash all your money and never have to buy a game for the system ever again...the release games were that good!!

to this day, its still my favourite console

stopped by target this morning to pick up couple of things before work. Saw people standing in line at guest care and asked what was going on and found out it was fot the Switch. Thought what the hell might as well and picked me up one even though i barely have time to play.

I went home for lunch to pick up my Switch that arrived!

Fuuuuuck, missed out. I figured lines were going to be stupid and didn't go out last night. Turns out a friend got one at 1:30 from an empty ass Walmart. Looks like it's stalking Amazon for me.

I love playing Zelda with the Joycons separated. This thing is awesome.

Yeah it's surprisingly great. Even better than the pro controller honestly. Arms are completely relaxed and playing with it feels natural. Haven't had the disconnect issue with it so far.. but it's only been a day

OK so after some quality hours with the Switch and some games I'll give my thoughts:

The Switch itself:

-
The system itself is a lot smaller than I imagined. I knew the dimensions and saw the comparison pictures but it still felt smaller than expected in my hands.
- God damn the thing works and feels smooth. The sound of the joy-cons connecting feels so satisfying.
- The UI isn't flashy but very easy to navigate.
- Pro controller is awesome. A must for me since my hands feel too large for for the joy-cons. They're not unplayable by any means but the pro controller is just so slick and the same size that I'm used to.
- Incredibly easy to set up.
- Switches from docked to handheld seamlessly. I plan on using it mostly docked but everything looks great in handheld mode

Breath of the Wild

- Only played about 3 hours so far and I'm still at the very beginning of the game. Still doing the first couple intro quests.
- Hard to describe just how amazing the game looks on my 65" SUHD TV. I was speechless for the first couple minutes after getting out into the world, just roaming around looking at everything.
- If you're a fan of open world RPGs this game is for you. A LOT of depth.
- Controls are slick and really easy to pick up. Gives you a few options on remapping buttons as well.
- Lots of pleasant surprises. Stumpled upon a Bokoblin hideout, snuck around and sniped the out guards and blew up the ones inside. Went in to grab the treasure and got ambushed by a stronger, blue Bokoblin who OHKO'd my ass. The enemy AI is also very cool and interesting. I knocked one Bokoblin down and took his club and shield, so he threw rocks at me while I fought his buddies.
- Physics are great. Hit detection is also on point. Trying to hit enemies with the bow long range requires a lot of adjusting your shots. Luckily you can run and grab the arrows you lost.
- In the time I've spent playing there was no hand holding after Link left the Shrine of Resurrection where he wakes up. I've had to figure out how to fight and cook by trial and error.
- So much to explore here. The map is HUGE. After taking my time sneaking around fighting Bokoblins I finally decided to check out the ruined Temple of Time. Exploring around the entire thing really payed off
when I found a stronger bow than the one inside the temple itself
- The jingle that plays when you cook food is just awesome and adorable and I don't think I'll ever skip it.
- I can already tell this game will take up all of my free time for the next several months. Even a few hours in I can see why this game got so many perfect scores.

Snipperclips

- Very charming visually. Music sets the tone perfectly as well. Can appeal to a wide range of people.
- Insanely fun to play. Moreso with someone else but can be done solo.
- Appears to only work with the joy-cons sideways while docked.
- Already have plans to turn it into a fun drinking game while out with friends.
- Well worth the $20

Also bought Bomberman R but haven't gotten a chance to try it.

Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. I know I'll get my money's worth with the Switch as more games come out. The negative aspects imo are the fact that there's no Virtual Console at launch, and no apps like Netflix either. These issues will be resolved in due time though.

If anyone would like to ask me any questions or request me trying something out just let me know.

Nice. I got Snipperclips too. The demo had me sold

Damn I got lucky, woke up at like 3:30 pm and went to walmart, they still had like 7 left.

got it all set up and letting it charge a bit before I get stuff set up since I'm getting things done around the house anyways. can't wait to get some time in on this thing.

Debating getting a second AC charger for my room to charge in handheld mode.

That's what I did. Don't feel like removing the AC adapter from the dock every time I want to play around the house or at work or wherever.

I may wait a year and a half to two years to buy the Switch, to make sure that third-party support will stay. I bought my WiiU quickly and lots of games and developers were on board...then BAM! no more and just had to wait for Nintendo to release their first-party games that seemed like were 3 years apart from each other.

They just kept forking out re-masters of Zelda (or Mario for that manner) with no real new one...which royally pissed me off. So just going to buy BotW on my WiiU to make it feel like it was worth buying the WiiU all those years ago, hahaha.

Figure I should start adding friends. My friend code is SW-1028-5738-7792 if anyone's looking to add people as well. I wonder if you can play Snipperclips with people online or if it's only local.

My haul for the day

FYI, the soft screen protector is not that good, just waiting on a tempered glass protector
