NINTENDO SWITCH Official Discussion v2: Nintendo's Big Comeback Starter Pack

Found an interesting post about the phone chat app,

The problem is that under FCC regulations as VoIP service, it has to have the ability to convert voice into text messages on the fly for deaf users, and support users with other disaiblities, which would then require displaying the messages on a screen somewhere. AFAIK, PS4 and XBox got around this because their online services have been in place since before the FCC regulations went into effect (same network was used for prior systems) and they were grandfathered in.

Not sure about the validity, but it is an interesting explanation as to why it's being done via phone app.

Is there a list of rumored games to be out first on the Switch VC?

There was a story a while back saying that SoM would be one of the first VC games. Wondering if that's still the case since Japan is getting a Secret of Mana Collection.

Picked up Disgaea 5 Complete and played a bit over the weekend.

Didn't get very far at all but it's fun so far. The music is strangely catchy (but I enjoy listening to Jpop and Kpop even though I have no idea what they're singing about).

The game came with a bunch of extra shit (starter weapons and characters from previous Disgaea games) so I am actually super overpowering. Thinking about restarting the game and not claiming these items/characters cause its way way too easy right now. or maybe i'll just remove their strong weapons and sub it with a really weak one.

I feel like I should have played the previous Disgaea games to really appreciate the story...

I'm scheduled to meet some dude from Craigslist after work to buy his new unopened Switch for $350. I'd bought a few things on CL, so we're meeting in a public parking lot after work. I'm tired of waiting lol.

Not necessary, but it does explain who some of the dlc characters are and the overall gist of what the netherworld is and how it works.

I've bought things from CL before as well, but the way it's all framed makes it feel and sound like an illicit transaction. Like you're meeting Rico to exchange "souvenirs".

To be really sure you can meet CL people at the police station :) My local police actually tell people dealing on CL to do that.

Hey fellaaaaaaas. Finally got the switch yesterday after buying it off the guy on CL. Met up at a Best buy parking lot and it was all good, new unopened.

It's a gorgeous piece of tech. I had never seen one in person or held it before. It feels high quality. E-Shop is very nice and clean. Same with the OS and its very fast.

I picked up Zelda and played it for about 20 minutes before bed. I'm loving it so far. I haven't even connected the dock to the TV yet because I have the in laws staying with us and didn't have much time to mess around the Switch. I'm definitely loving it so far and can't wait to get out of work and check it out more. I also have Mario Kart and Street Fighter coming in few days From Dell. 8 had a credit to use and picked up those games, a case and a joycon grip.

Congrats and yeah, the Switch was probably not gonna be on there any time soon on Dell so the purchase was best. Enoy the games and if you have any questions about LoZ, ask away.

Does anybody have any reviews or comments about these games?

1) Has Been Heroes
2) Fast RMX Racing
3) Wonderboy
4) Blaster Master Zero

Only game I got on your list is RMX Racing and it feels like F-Zero but this is from playing it twice. It's fun but at the same but with Mario Kart out I think I won't be going back to RMX for quite a while...

Poken Tournament announced for Switch during the Pokémon Direct this morning. Bummed they didn't announce Pokémon Stars.

Yeah, that's what I was worried about. I'll have Mario Kart in a couple of days, and probably wouldn't need 2 racers for now.

Fast RMX is very different, but yeah with MK8 there's less incentive. Here are some trailers for choice games.

I actually have over 50 hours in Has Been Heroes....

Something about it is just fun to me. I like the randomness and figuring out how to win even with the randomness. Don't get me wrong, sometimes there are situations you just can win, no matter what.

The tutorials are not that good, so I watch some youtube videos on how to play.

Very long video but approaches it like a new player would. He likes the game in the end.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think i'm going to give Wonderboy a try, and still have to figure out the other. I'm salivating for Mario Kart to come in. I should get it tomorrow, along with Street Fighter.

I've been hesitating on buying Street Fighter. I wish they had lowered the price a bit. For what the game is offering it's a bit much. I wish Capcom had thought about this a bit more. A lower price point would have gotten my business along with a bunch of others I think. They didn't think this through. And I can't understand why they haven't announced a Mega Man ultimate pack for the Switch. That's an easy play that is bound to make tons of money. I am reserving that shit as soon as it is available. wtf Capcom...

despite the impressive sales, 3rd party already treating Nintendo like 3rd class. IMO, this is a big mistake, different then when they didn't support the Wii despite it's massive sales. I think much consumers would purchase a switch port, despite a down grade, in order to play the game on-the-go. I'm betting NBA 2K18 will sell very well on Switch.

I am not seeing this. Or maybe I am seeing this from a different viewpoint. Not all games should be switch games. COD and Destiny 2 are examples of games that would sell poorly on the Switch IMO. I think companies are figuring out what they can or cannot bring to the Switch and then going from there. I also think sports games are going to sell really well. I haven't bought a sports game in years and yet I am definitely looking to buy FIFA and others now.

Porting games is different now. Before the switch, you would pick the format that you preferred the most but with the portability feature, people like me are actually willing to wait for the Switch version now.

But let's see what E3 has to offer for us...

There's a reason these past few years I've been on board with the idea of another massive crash to the gaming ecosystem to shake things up especially amongst 3rd parties. Granted EA is the Dana White of the gaming world so who knows.

I see it kind of differently in that who wants to support a company who can't even get their system into the hands of customers who want to pay for it? It has been 3 months now and most places still don't have a single Switch on the shelf. Would you want to risk all that money in creating a port for a system which so far isn't looking very good? Not to mention it's processing power isn't even on par with consoles which came to market 4-5 years ago... that's a lot of work and a tough sell for most game producers.

I'm not going to lie I'm curious about the Switch and semi-interested, but right now it's totally on the back burner because outside of BoTW and maybe Mario Kart I'm not interested in a single game. Even if I wanted one I'd rather not have to deal with people selling them in back alley's or meeting in Best Buy parking lots. haha Perhaps once there's a reasonable supply in stores and many more people have them gaming companies would willing to take the risk, but right now I think it's just way too risky to put any kind of money into developing for the Switch for most game developers. Guess we'll see what happens but I wouldn't hold my breath.
