NINTENDO SWITCH Official Discussion v2: Nintendo's Big Comeback Starter Pack

Is it just me, or has the hype for this thing come and gone?

Not slamming the system or anything, it just seems like a forgettable launch. I remember a lot more hype for the reveal, than the actual launch. This thing is on shelves right now, and it seems like there is hardly a peep about it. The Zelda game is getting some play, but the launch itself feels like it's come and gone.

Maybe it's just me.
I always feel left out and the urge to buy pretty much every console when it first releases, but i don't for The Switch for some reason. I honestly think its just the lack of compelling games, and even in the months to come the only highlight is a MK8 port.

Yeah, it's strange. It feels like people were more excited for the potential of the system. It's out there now, and it seems like people are indifferent to it. You know, like "I'll grab one...eventually".

Weird vibe going on right now.

I can see peoples' hesitance, and I can agree there's a lack of titles at launch. I kinda wonder why they launched early myself.

I "lost" my Wii U so I don't have one anymore, and the Switch has proven to be a great idea to me, albeit two days in. I've played it solo and with others and it's proven to be really cool to me.

I think Nintendo really is on the right track with the tech, they just need to back it up now. Fingers crossed.

Yeah agreed pretty much, i never got a Wiiu because they were stingy with the price it like never dropped. I will eventually get the Switch though, When Zelda, Mario Odyssey and maybe one or two must haves are out i will get it.

I'd love another FPS Metroid game also, like in the vein of the Gamecube ones those were fucking amazing and even still hold up now

So if you go out and buy a Switch game, bring it home, and open it. What's in the box?
@HairdewX
Is there a just a code in there, is the game on a sd card, etc?

There is a game cart that has the game, like a Vita or 3DS. Also like those systems, there is no install (Vita has a minor install), just plug it in and play right away.

Is it getting For Honor, Sniper Elite 4, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Mass Effect

No to all of them. It probably isn't anywhere near powerful enough to run Wildlands, considering how much it struggles even on XB1 and PS4.

That's another question i have, like Wiiu had horrific 3rd party support and missed out on like 95% of every meaningful 3rd party of its generation.

Yet still, Wiiu at launch iirc had Madden, Batman Arkham City, Call Of Duty and some others.

I'm not saying I'm even a fan of those games, but it had them, it had options and choice, Switch to me even more than Wiiu seems strictly a Nintendo fanboy type system, which is fine, they make superb first party games so fans will get their money worth.

I'll probably get it, and solely get its exclusives.

Even Skyrim, that seems like such a odd release, it won't match the PC/X1/PS4 in terms of visuals or mods, and will essentially be a stripped/gimped version of those games.

I hope I'm wrong tbh, i hope somehow its better than the Wiiu was with 3rd party games. Just so it appeals to more than the hardcore nintendo fans, that's why the Wiiu sold like shit.

That's known as a disincentive. You literally just presented an argument devaluing the Switch.

Great argument for the Wii U.

Thanks. Mission accomplished.

That part with Jeff from GB in there pulling the joycon off is kinda BS. Specifically cutting out the part where he talks about dropping the thing while walking with it, it landing on the joycon and basically shearing off the plastic tab that locks it in place. Shit breaks if you drop it, fact of life.
Fake news, I guess?

In other news, I've been playing with the pro controller for about 12 hours now, and it feels pretty fucking nice. Gyro's decent, I like the sticks, the bumpers and triggers are all good, and the d-pad is a nintendo dpad, so pretty much the best. Was a bit stiff at first, but feels better now.

Has anyone done any toilet gaming yet?

As men we need to test the shit out of its capability's on the can.

Stingy with the Wii U??

They sold that at a loss bro.

That's not MY problem, I'm not paying more for a less powerful system with literally no 3rd party games when you can get Slim versions of the PS4/X1 that come bundled with a game, like 400 more gigs of storage and so on for cheaper.

I'm in the NYC/NJ area and there isn't too much buzz for the Switch anymore. I agree with previous posts that the hype was great for the upcoming launch, but once launch came and went, there is no buzz anymore. This is what happens when you release a console with 1 great game, but not much else at all besides it. the Wii U launch was stronger in my opinion because there were actually a lot of 3rd party games to compliment some pretty good launch titles.

None of those games were as good as BOTW, but people need to realize that not everyone is into Zelda, and even if they are, they might still be hesitant about just 1 good big title coming out at launch. What else are you going to get? 1-2 Switch? Bomberman, which apparently is trash? What else is there?

All I'm saying is that it's dumb to call Nintendo "stingy" because...that wasn't the case with the Wii U.

The actual problem was that the Wii U was mishandled from MANY standpoints... And like you, many people thought it was too expensive, but again, it wasn't greed on the part of Nintendo. They were just...dumb with everything from the marketing to the controller to the lack to locking down REAL third party supports...etc, etc.

The Switch is.....................awesome. (BOTW is...whoa)

...but at the same time, it was PROBABLY released a year too soon.

LOL

I mean, just imagine if they waited until there was a SLEW of games for it...AND they addressed the lack of internal memory, AND they used a Pascal chip, AND they marketed it as a hand-held first and foremost, (so if they fail to catch fire, they could follow it up with a proper "console") AND they had analog triggers in the pro controller.........

All of the those things would have been more or less EASY to accomplish given extra time.

It's just...really odd that a new Mario game wasn't available at launch...etc.

Like I've said before, Snipperclips is a lot of fun. About a 1/4 of the way through it. Was playing with family last night while out to dinner waiting for food. Kinda like those kiosks Chilis has but the screen doesn't suck.

Someone mentioned the toilet gaming capability - lol you could do that with the Wii U as well. But yeah the switch works great for bathroom breaks lol.

Yeah well i didn't know they were losing money on it, but my god its still expensive if you wanted to get a basic used Wiiu

$200 for instance right now for a used 8gb at gamestop, thats insane.
