Ngannou vs Gane would be the pinnacle of MMA

Whatever you might say about Ngannou, he really is not well rounded. He is very good at one thing. Not well rounded in the slightest.
Can you honestly say that after watching the rematch with Stipe? The way he stuffed Stipe’s TD and took his back was Romeroesque

Schooled? Lol wut

That's like suggesting DC isn't a good grappler because Jon Jones had more takedowns than him head to head.

{<huh}

Did you even watch these fights you are talking about? Jones may have landed a takedown that DC immediately got up from. Rashad outwrestled Davis for 5 rounds. No one's saying Davis isn't a good grappler, but stuffing his takedowns isn't some magical feat.

<{fry}>

Is this real life or trolling. Can't tell anymore....

Fedor vs Mirko? Really? 2 chubby MW/LHW’s battling it out in terrible fight.

Mirko was horrible. Only moving laterally to one direction into Fedor’s power hand, throwing naked kicks. No set ups, no feints, no footwork. Completely lost on the ground as well. Shame on Fedor for not finishing him

Lmao. Consistently terrible takes from this casual.

Ngannu Gane is not the pinnacle of anything.

Yes

Ngannou would molly whoop his ass into oblivion.

What has Carwin done? He only has 2 good wins in his whole career

Gane has 1 decent win over Volkov, yet he is some great AT hw?

What did I say wrong?

Please, correct me if you can!

Does Fedor/Mirko have HW frame? No

Did Mirko constantly move to Fedor’s power hand? Yes

Did Mirko feint? No

Did he fought good of his back? No

Can you read? It was a comparison of Ngannou and Carwin, not Gane.

And Gane has 3 decent wins- Volkov, Rozenstruick and JDS

Agreed. Always wanted to see how Ngannou would deal with a precision striker of his own size. This is the entire reason I'm pulling for Gane Saturday.

A fun and exciting fight? Definitely. Pinnacle? Eh that's a bit Rogan-ish overstatement. A huge powerful HW throwing windmill punches hardly qualifies as pinnacle. I would say GSP-Penn could be considered a MMA pinnacle fight

Literallyy ONE "windmill" punch in that GIF

As of now, i do think he's somewhat well-rounded at least. Decent bjj and his defensive wrestling looked astonishingly good against Stipe (who is a very good wrestler) too.
In terms of striking, he cleaned things up, but he never was JUST raw power either, he always had a good eye for a counter and good timing on the feet.
well I have to disagree.

Ngannou hasn't submitted anyone in almost 5 years.
I never see any BJJ from him.
Is he good at winning fights when it goes to points??? NO !! He has lost every single fight that goes to points, all 3 of them. So he's demonstrably not good at winning rounds.
So he's not good at BJJ, he's not good at winning decisions, he IS good at one thing.

This is what he does :
- Fight starts
- Waits' about 30 or 45seconds
- Rushes towards opponent winging massive left and right hooks (most of them missing) until one connects with jaw.

That's his strategy. Yes it works well when he connects, yes he is big and strong and fast hands.

But That is not well rounded.
And I'd bet a lot of money his cardio is still suspect as well.

Gane is more technical than the Russian master of Sambo, Judo, and crisp boxer? sure.

Maldonado clipped him with a short right and had him stumbling around like a drunk.

Lol at "crisp boxing"

Wide hooks, chin straight up, swinging from his hips his whole career.

He was fast and hit hard...he was NOT a good technical boxer

I agree his TDD has improved. I still do not think he is well-rounded at all.

Valentina Shevchenko is well-rounded. She can submit you, she can KO you, she is equally happy on the ground and feet, she has wrestling, she has BJJ, she has cardio, she has kickboxing / Muay Thai. that is someone who is the Very Definition of Well-Rounded.

cannot think of a LESS well-rounded fighter than Francis Ngannou.
But...yes....he might well win his next 5 fights, good for him, still don't make him well rounded.

You probably predicted for Stipe to win the rematch. Francis has improved immensely in the last few years and what really sets him apart is physical attributes
I predicted the rematch perfectly.

Stipe’s decline was evident to anyone watching his trilogy with Cormier. I saw no evidence that Francis significantly improved in that fight. Stipe’s TD technique was sloppy and half-assed. The version of Ngannou we saw in their first fight could’ve defended that. Francis is super athletic though, and is possibly the scariest power puncher in history. But his overall MMA game is meh. Even his striking is pretty sloppy a lot of the time. No fight that he’s in would be the pinnacle of MMA.

Prime Gane vs Prime Velasquez would have told us who the most technical heavyweight in UFC history really was.

My money would be on Prime Velasquez.

This fight is still cool as it definitely has Velasquez-Carwin vibes.

The one where BJ quit? LMAO

Ngannou has heavy hands, but so have a lot of HWs over the years. Gane is technical, but it is way too early to say he is the most technical HW ever. It would be a high level match-up, but calling it the pinnacle of MMA is a pretty huge stretch.
Actually it isn’t too early to say, HW MMA is such a wasteland that Stipe’s rudimentary boxing skills established himself with the best resume a UFC HW has had
