Ngannou vs Gane would be the pinnacle of MMA

The pinnacle of MMA must be a HW or at least a LHW bout. As it’s a young sport, that continues to develop, the most recent HW title fight has the best chance to have the 2 baddest mf’ers that have ever lived.

If you disagree, name-

-2 more athletic fighters than Ngannou and Gane

- more powerful striker than Ngannou

- more technical HW striker than Gane

I’ll wait

Gane lacks power. Everything else is fine but his power isn't there. Only KOd a washed up JDS with a shot back to the head

Have you seen his pre-UFC fights? He has power alright, but he doesn’t throw with 100% power now to avoid being countered.

Gane lacks power and is honestly boring to watch

Either Ngannou or Lewis I suppose—but that’s mainly due to their insane power and ability to land that power shot. It’s not due to being excellent wrestlers.
Your stat about most TDs doesn’t mean much when Francis fights those guys when they’re completely washed (or well on the way to being washed, in Stipe’s case).
I agree with you that TDD also can involve use of distance and retaliation to prevent them. Bit that we wouldn’t judge someone’s wrestling ability based on that. We wouldn’t say, “Damn, look how much Derrick Lewis improved his wrestling! When Blaydes grabbed his leg, Lewis blasted him unconscious with an uppercut!” That wouldn’t make sense. We could comment on his power and striking ability, but not wrestling. That’s basically what happened with Ngannou-Blaydes, and Ngannou-Cain. What happened with Stipe is almost entirely a consequence of Stipe’s choice of takedown, and poor technique on that particular takedown.

I’m not saying Francis can’t wrestle at all, clearly he has some knowledge. I’m sure he’s also improved some in the past few years as I know it’s something he has worked on. But no massive gains in his wrestling game were apparent in the Stipe rematch.

Ngannou has improved his TDD. He stuffed takedowns from Curtis and holds two wins over him

Also you're assuming Gane has beaten Lewis lol

I’m not denying he can stuff a TD, we’ve all seen that. What I am saying is that since the first Stipe fight, we have not seen anything which leads us to believe his wrestling is on another level that it was at that time.

The first fight with Blaydes was before Stipe-Ngannou 1, and therefore irrelevant to my point. In the rematch with Blaydes, I have no clue what takedowns are being referred to in the fight stats (stats say Blaydes was 0/2 somehow). The fight doesn’t contain a single true TD attempt that I saw. Blaydes feints a TD about :20 seconds in. Francis wallops him about :31 seconds in, after which Blaydes half-ass grabs a leg for a second while totally rocked. The fight ends a few seconds later after some additional punches from Francis. I’m guessing those 2 exchanges I mentioned are the “takedowns” referred to in the stats, but not much judgment can be made about Francis’ wrestling improvements from those.

Cliffs: If Francis has improved his wrestling significantly, we have not seen that yet.

So the fight is on!!! And Gane proved last night he’s technic is levels above everyone we have ever seen at HW

War Bon Gamin!!!

A fun and exciting fight? Definitely. Pinnacle? Eh that's a bit Rogan-ish overstatement. A huge powerful HW throwing windmill punches hardly qualifies as pinnacle. I would say GSP-Penn could be considered a MMA pinnacle fight

I like Ngannou but this is so bad. 0 technique and he's lucky he didn't get caught with a harder shot there.

Ngannou doesn’t always fight like that. He has displayed good technique against Overeem, JDS and Stipe rematch. He probably didn’t want to engage in a technical battle with a guy who has a 76–8-1 kick-boxing record

If Gane gets past Lewis, Ngannou vs Gane will be the pinnacle of MMA.

- these two might be the biggest, most athletic HW’s of all time

- Ngannou is most powerful and scariest KO artist of all time

- Gane is the most technical HW he have ever seen

- both are very well rounded. Ngannou with his newly equipped wrestling and Gane with his tricky submission game

Hoping Gane succeeds against the Black Beast, so we can witness this clash of titans
