AhRe: the earlier discussion on performance enhancement.
AhRe: the earlier discussion on performance enhancement.
This thread seems dead. The juxtaposition of the asswhoopins desanto and rby put on the army kid was fun. Bummed Nick didnt pick asu. Is he going 25 then?
Kyle Snyder wrestled at the Umakhanovsky Tournament earlier today in Khasavyurt (Dagestan); here are the videos:
If I were the ref, I'd have given Aliev (Snyder's opponent here) only 2 points. I understand that 4 points are given if both wrestlers are on their feet, but Snyder was already on his knees; however, I am not upset at the 4 points - it was a nice technique lolThanks for posting. In the last vid, do you agree with 4 points for Snyder's opponent at 3:05? I guess technically it's grand amplitude but he does it as a sacrifice throw without lifting Snyder off the mat and doesn't retain control - Snyder is only given 1 point reversal on that basis even though he immediately spins through and takes opponent's back. Snyder then beasting from down 3-8 to 18-8 tech fall. What a hoss.

Snyder broke all of his opponents today. Dagestan and Ossetia (Khugaev and Soitiev- both Ossetians (two of his opponents today)) produce an incredible amount of talent and always have European/World and Olympic medalists, but even their technique and style cannot keep up with Snyder. It goes to show you how good Sadulaev is - and how much better he is than the rest of Russia at 97kg.
Interesting fact: 97kg was the only weight category that had the final medal matches today (well, yesterday: 10th for me) because Snyder was flying home later yesterday, or today (11th).
Do the different colleges have any historical specifical style, or it changes constantly depending on the coaches and athletes?
For example, Gable's Iowa was famous for their hard-nose grinding style. Is there any other team famous for any reason?
Also, what are some good names (past or present) to study for top control/rides/mat wrestling?
Who are the current big names?
I'm starting to study a little more folkstyle, would be good to know more.
The differences in styles are often examined and largely attributed to a particular coach more than a team but once a coach implements a particular style/culture in a region it usually takes hold. For example, greco specialists at Minnesota from J Robinson and In the Illinois area and the Pac NW states, hard-nosed Gable-->Zalesky-->Brands, the slickness and single legs of Seay and Smith in Ok State.Do the different colleges have any historical specifical style, or it changes constantly depending on the coaches and athletes?

What about good mat wrestlers to study?
