Law NC House overrides budget veto in surprise vote with almost half of lawmakers absent

This is why I always say the republicans are better at the game. Democrats always try to work with them and play fair and this is always the result. Democrats need to play the game by republican rules for a while and see how they like it

Well that's the slimiest political thing that I've read about in a while.

Are you ok with this sort of behavior? Also, to do this on 9/11 when Dens were at commemoration ceremonies is just deplorable.
I suspect they're not even examples. His statement looks like a muddling of some garbage tax-protestor arguments.

He may be referring to the initial income tax statute, which predates the IRS. It was passed by an emergency session of Congress that opened on July 4, 1861, but wasn't actually drafted and voted on until the following weeks. If he's talking about a vote on other versions it's not clear.

It’s unreal. Republicans hate America. Can you imagine being underhanded when your opponent is at a 9/11 ceremony.

Only people who hate this country would do this type of thing

Good lord, it's impossible to underestimate the integrity of Republican voters and supporters.
Easy there bud, I ain't no fucking idiotic partisan retard who votes in this pathetic system.
And "scorched earth politics" is exactly right. This has been the Republican playbook for 25 years now: lie, cheat, steal, and shatter all legislative norms and standards of good faith so that legislative bodies are poisoned for years to come....as long as you get your paycheck from the donor johns.
Thanks for making the exact point I was getting at.

What irks me most about this is the whole time they behave this way they have the nerve to wrap themselves in the flag while doing it all the while screaming about patriotism and telling their base they are the real Americans and telling their voters socialism is gonna get em

Its absurd to the level of these people now look like tv parodies of what youd think a politician is and does

I cant stand the democrats but what choice do I have when the other party behaves the way it does trying to stick it to the bottom and the middle for the betterment of the top . Its absolutely reckless

Centrism and reaching out across to the other side is for pathetic bums. Democrats should start treating the right wing like the animals that they are. Reaching out to them results in a complete failure every step of the way

There's just no bottom of the barrel with Republicans. Moscow Mitch is surely proud.

It would be slimy and underhanded on it's own if this were just a Tuesday they were lying about, but doing a sneak vote while everyone else is at a 9/11 memorial?
Unfuckingreal.
How are you supposed to work with someone that would do something like that?

Can you really blame people for not trusting the government when behavior like this happens.

So our tax dollars went to these representatives, so to the the dems that aren't working and the GOP that were working and voted? Wow that's what you get for being lazy lol...

No this is a bad look for GOP and they deserve criticism unless I am missing something here.

I’ve read your first paragraph a few times and I think I know what you are saying but I don’t want to assume.

Is it missing a few commas or something?

The problems with this is that it just lowers the only group keeping integrity afloat....... the republicans will always be willing to sink lower. Instead of joining them they will just have to get savvy to the treachery

Gerrymandering props it all up, ultimately. This is how politicians act when they know it won't have any effect on their career.

It is hilarious that flag-waving, God and Country Republicans rammed home a vote while Dems were at a 9/11 memorial. Imagine the accusations of unpatriotic behavior had the roles been reversed.

Did you support the Oregeon Republucans who left the state to prevent a vote rather than showing up for work?

Just curious, but how many 9-11 memorials in NC?

And why was the budget vetoed?

A small one in Jacksonville near Camp LeJeune that I have been to.

Mostly because it did not provide enough money for education.
