NBC poll: Ted Cruz overtakes Donald Trump nationally

I'm not surprised Of course trump can win but people generally hate the dude, even within his party. He had zero establishment endorsements. The GOP wants anyone but Trump.

This is why he will win the election. He is the anti establishment. the anti politician. The exact same thing happened in Toronto where I work. Rob Ford won on a similar platform of stopping the gravy train......then you know things didn't work out for him lmao.

People like to distance themselves from Trump because they don't want to be seen as "too right wing" ... but he speaks the most sense and with the rising wave of SJW nutbags for millennials, hellbent on destroying the west, Trump needs to win.

Nope, around a year ago when I was arguing that Bush had little chance of the nomination, others posted links to offshore betting sites showing their odds that Bush had a 70% chance while none of the other candidates had higher than 13%.

I don't believe that, but if you can provide evidence, I will. I do see a link from Betfair that had him up over 40% at his highest.

I think it's just a case of people not understanding how to read odds. I remember arguing here against people who were saying that the fix was in and it was going to definitely be Bush vs. Clinton.

I would rephrase that to say that is why is supporters like him, but it won't win him the election. I think people are overestimating his chances based on the idea he is against the GOP establishment, which is true. But that is not the only issue for people!

I keep repeating this (and so have others), but independents hate the dude and Democrats really hate him (perhaps to the extent it improves turnout for Dems to prevent him from getting office).

And lets be careful, he is very pro-establishment (the Oligarchy) but anti-GOP establishment. And that is only because he is wealthy enough to fund his own campaign, lets be honest.

I respect that you posted the stats for a respected betting site, but the stats I recall were from an offshore site and a poster was encouraging me to bet against Bush if I was so sure.

I don't trust betting sites, especially offshore sites, so I politely declined.

Wait... Rubio has higher odds of winning than Trump now?

Also- lol @ Trump's line being orange

The thing is, though, there is never going to be that big a difference in the odds because that's free money for bettors (if you can bet against him with the odds that you're claiming and on him to win at vastly better odds on another site, you're guaranteed a win either way), and people will take that free money, which will move the lines.

That chart wasn't up to the minute. Trump is now favored (and not just the guy with the best odds, but favored against everyone--he's -175 on Bovada).

Have you objectively assessed your candidates? You have one candidate that is an athiest socialist, and a candidate that barks.
I knew it was just a matter of time before some drone hack like you would start trying to smear Sanders with atheism. He's Jewish, and like tons and tons and tons of Jews, he's not very religious, and takes a secular approach.

Igit, what are your answers to these questions?

hiya sabretruth,

if you told me in 2012 that Mr. Sanders would run for the Presidency four years later, i'd have been very surprised.

i'm happy to see him contesting Mrs. Clinton for the nomination and support him with no sense of regret or longing for a different candidate.

Latest polls have Cruz beating both Hillary and Sanders, fwiw

hi and good morning, PainIsLife,

i like Nate Silver and occasionally glance at the polls myself, but i don't use them in forecasting for the general.

its just too far away.

Here is his answer to a question to a question about his religion. No reference to a God, just his spiritual feelings that "We're all in this together."

He's been a politician for over three decades, he knows the approval numbers for atheists among the voting electorate, so he danced around the answer with spiritial rhetoric.

There was a candidate that had the same style, voting record, aliances in the media and Washington as McCain.

And that was Lindsey Graham.
I think I heard Graham refer to he and McCain as "like peas and carrots" once.

He's a secular Jew with personal spiritual beliefs. It's very common. If you have to read between the lines, the answer is agnostic, not atheist. But you have an interest in being an asshole and smearing.

So you support Sanders? What qualities are you looking for?

One doesn't believe in God, the other doesn't care if there is God.

Yuge difference.

hiya Sabretruth,

someone with a Brooklyn accent and unkempt hair.

no, i'm kidding.

in terms of specifics, i want someone who is an unapologetic believer in single payor healthcare - and that is not because i'm a liberal, but rather i'm a fiscal conservative when it comes to our spiraling cost of healthcare.

i'm also interested in campaign finance reform, i believe the core Occupy Wall Street message is one to be true; that the flood of money into our politics has a sort of corrosive effect.

i'd like a candidate that is decoupled from any of the oligarchical powers that sit atop our political system in terms of campaign donations.

i want a candidate who has a very, very measured approach to foreign policy; someone who grasps that the threat of war is far more effective than the actual waging of war. i'd also like a candidate who takes a serious look at the ballooning investment the taxpayers are asked to make to US military spending.

that's just a brief list, but Sanders fills those metrics very neatly for me. frankly, i'm a little tired of centrist dogma from Democrats...the Blue Dogs left a sour taste in my mouth.

i'm actually shocked he's running.

And there is a CBS poll that has Trump over Cruz by double digits. Woopity doo. Polls mean nothing, results do.

Still dont understand how these numbers get collected so early. I didnt see any toll booths open..
