NBC poll: Ted Cruz overtakes Donald Trump nationally

Then you should be pulling for Trump or Bush. They have the highest negatives in a general election. Cruz, Rubio, and Carson have the highest positives and would be projected to win against Hillary or Bernie.
Cruz is about as unelectable in a GE as it gets. I don't think there is a candidate in history that would be worse.

Great news for Dems if he gets up.

It's absurd how easily the 1% has everyone else convinced socialism is the greatest evil in the world.
That might be because it and its like (that is, Marxist abominations) pretty much are.

If there was a clone of Obama running for the Democrat nomination, the odds would be in your favor.

But there isn't.

There's a crusty 74 year old socialist and atheist, and the other candidate only has high approval numbers among the demographic of women 65+ years old.

Not to mention, after two terms of a President with low approval numbers in the final year, voters don't like to give the next term to a candidate of the same party, essentially a third and fourth term of the first President.

Don't get cocky about your chances.

This, I'd much rather have him than Donald, Rubio or Bush... who are essentially people I could see not doing well in a GE, but capturing votes on contentious issues with grey areas.

Whereas literally everyone hates Cruz. He has absolutely zero chance of winning the presidency. If he wins the primary, I'm going to be so fucking happy. And if he wins the primary and Bernie Sanders does as well, I'll be absolutely thrilled.

It's a shame that McCain isn't about 8 years younger this go around, he would've actually had a decent shot of winning this election.

Jim Webb is McCain 2.0 (McCain Jr.)
Why didn't you vote for him?

Just watched him speak at the town hall in SC. I did not enjoy it. He rambled on about the erosion of religious freedoms and basically said he would repeal anything that separates church and state.

hi Lethal_Striker,

John McCain would have been interesting if he'd won in 2008. then we could see what a US war with Iran would have looked like...and of course, he'd have had the counsel of Sarah Palin to lean on.

Obviously I wouldn't want McCain as president with Palin as the VP, that was a desperate act since Obama so was so far ahead in the polls at the time. And I did vote for Obama over McCain, just saying that I'd rather have McCain as a candidate over most of the jokers that're currently running.

Also how is being an atheist a bad thing either? I;d reaaalllyyyy prefer whoever is in charge keeps religion out of government, since it has no place there whatsoever and everything.

How is the idea of spreading assets around to try to help everyone equally WORSE than the current Apocalypse from the X-men system, where the winner takes all and 5% of the population has 95% of the assets?

I AM NOT MALEVOLENT, I simply am.......

I honestly think Rubio would be nearly a lock if he makes it out of the primary.

I absolutely disagree, but I will say that Rubio concerns me greatly. More than any other candidate on the right, that's for sure. Especially if he wins and gets a likable running mate.

'evening Letha_Striker,

i gotcha, thanks.

if Mr. McCain were running, though, this quote would have come back to kill him;

"The world is already feeling the powerful effects of global warming, and far more dire consequences are predicted if we let the growing deluge of greenhouse gas emissions continue, and wreak havoc with Gods creation," he said.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/23/AR2007042300786.html

that kinda stuff would get him crucified, absolutely demolished, in 2016. you can't have that quote on your resume and run for POTUS in the GOP. he'd have never made it out of the primary.

Socialism is by definition punishing excellence for the benefit of pond scum. Wanna guess to which one it encourages people to strive for? Equality, if there ever can be one*, is determined by the lowest common denominator. Are you sure you really want that?

As for the corpocracy, or should I say, coprocracy, in the US today, I'm no great fan of it either. Pretty much the only way to actually make it worse would be to inject it with more socialism.

*I don't believe there can in any real material, legal or spiritual sense.

Well you can put cute labels out like 'socialist' but the fact is that this socialist (a ludicrous label btw) has a great chance if he's up against Cruz as opposed to Don, Jeb or Rubio.

I think Clinton gets up and beats any Repub. Personally I find her repugnant as a human being. The only one on either side that is worse is Cruz. I think in terms of morality and honesty, there is a bottomless pit on both these individuals. But for whatever reason, Hilary is gonna coast in. At least if Sanders pulls off the miracle and takes the Dem, if we can get Cruz to face him then there's a strong possibility that the Bern will be in.

Sure, why would anyone ever flee from those utopias of social and economic equality to come to this capitalistic wasteland?

Ask one of them, sometime.

See you are arguing from the perspective that we have a meritocracy though, or that one is even possible. I don't agree with any system where people are allowed to be shitty and lazy, at all. We're always going to have shitty and lazy people though, and the question is do you have a system where some of them slip through the cracks while you help the weak and the disadvantaged? Or a system that's more survival of the fittest, where anyone that can't keep pace get chewed up underneath the wheels. It's a question of the philosophy you follow really.

We're suddenly talking about what, immigration? That isn't really on topic with what we were talking about, and other countries being shittier doesn't mean we're doing everything right here.

He's been describing himself as a 'democratic' socialist for decades. It's about as democratic as Iran is a Republic.

He puts the cute label upon himself.

Serious question - Have you paid attention to her poll or approval numbers?

Because you're falling for the mistake of mixing your personal feelings, saying 'I' in every sentence, with realistic projections of the electorate of a general election.
