Flagg is listed as 6'9" and is only 17 years old, meaning, he could easily grow to be a 7 footer. In fact, it seems likely. He's 17.

Sure I guess he could. But IMO he won't ever get as big as Giannis.

Giannis is almost 7 feet tall. Cooper is only like 6'8".

Cooper has been listed at anywhere from 6'8" to 6'10" and is supposedly still growing. Near as I can tell, his wingspan has never been measured, but the eye test says it's in the 7'+ range. He plays very big/long even against the best high school ballers in country, so I doubt it really matters what the actual number is. AK47 was only 6'9" but played a lot bigger. Ditto for Shawn Marion, who was only 6'7" but played like a big man because he was so bouncy and his wingspan was so long.

2014 was one of the weakest draft year? Wtf? Jokic, Embiid, Gordon, Smart, Randle, LaVine, Capela, Grant... I am sure I missed some really good players too. I didnt count what if, injured guys.

I'm talking about perception before the draft, not how it turned out. Obviously, no one saw Jokic as a great prospect or he would have been a lottery pick, and Embiid wouldn't have lasted to #3 if teams knew then what they know now. The same could hold true for the 'weak' 2024 draft class. Maybe a bunch of those guys exceed expectations and become stars, making it look like a great class in hindsight. And maybe the much ballyhooed 2025 class fizzles once it his the league and ends up looking weak a decade from now. Reality doesn't always match first impressions.

Flagg's potential isn't his height, it's once he gets those testosterone NBA shots he could get yuge

Yep

People have forgotten what a twig Giannis was when he was drafted.

Who could see that 1984 or 2018 draft can be great one? Every single draft is "what if"? 10 years after, we can draw the line and say that 2014 was really good draft class.

This thread is turning into a bunch of cans that don't know anything about this beautiful game or its history. Hard to watch this train-wreck.

Regarding the 2014 draft, it sucks how Jabari Parker’s career turned out. He looked really good before injuries derailed his career.

Dante loss doesn't hurt the depth too much considering how many people can step up but WTF is going on in training camp. This is the second injury.

Stop looking at modern success for previous hype. he was considered the best prospect since LeBron lmao

The weakest draft was ANTs, not Wiggins.
Yeah regardless of how it turned out later I remember Wiggins and Parker were hyped up big time when they were in high school. There was a ton of buzz when they played against each other in college and I remember watching the summer league game when they played each other and the place was completely sold out (which also featured skinny Giannis and living legend Anthony Bennett)

I’ve always wondered what his full potential could have been. 2 knee injuries before he turned 23 pretty much killed his development. In between his first and second ACL tear he was averaging 20 on good efficiency and was starting to branch out to shooting more 3’s as well

He had some glaring holes though, his defense was really bad. Not just 1v1 but he was completely lost when it came to rotations or any kind of awareness on that end. No desire to improve there. His BBIQ was kinda meh and he was very moody when things weren’t going his way either

Hard to say. Maybe a Melo type player best case scenario. A guy who can get buckets but probably isn’t winning a title if he’s the #1 player or have the right team with him. Would have been interesting to see him with Giannis and Khris to say the least. I remember when Giannis signed his first big contract he took a little bit less than the max so it would be easier to lock up Parker + have more to spend but then he got hurt

Still a millionaire and playing in Barcelona though, could be worse

They could have had Embiid or Jokic in that draft instead.

Jokic was taken 41st in that draft. FORTY times he was passed on which means there was not a single scout or executive in the league that could comprehend what they were looking at when it comes to Jokic. The only thing in sports I know of crazier than Jokic going 41st is Tom Brady going 199th.

Ok but they took Parker second when Embiid went 3rd.

Jason Peters, James Harrison, and John Randle weren't even drafted.
