100% on this last comment. I also made horrible decisions. Thankfully my daughter is a semi level headed adult and doing great even with all the BS she had to put up with because of her mom.Though honestly it wouldn't be so bad if it was given to a better woman and parent... Unfortunately, it is to her. I made some bad decisions lol
I'm fine with it so it is what it is. Depending on where you live there are actually some academically strong public schools, especially in the Bay Area. Also sometimes it's a crap shoot because it can also be highly dependent on specific programs you may be interested in or the teachers your kids get. There are great teachers even in lower rated school and shit teachers in highly rated or private schools. The main thing that will lead to success are the parents IMO. As parents we set the stage, expectations and have a huge influence on their confidence. Parents have control of screen time and content. The entire summer my kids had to read at least 30 minutes per day and my wife gave them math/English worksheets to do every so often. I also made them do a lot of problem solving and STEM activities. My 6 year old will practice on his piano at least once to several times a day. We set that expectation if he wants to continue piano lessons and luckily he is self motivated to do it and get better. I also do a lot of soccer and agility drills with my 9 year old because I told him if he wants to continue to play comp/club soccer he needs to put in the work. If not he can go back to playing rec. He has a great coach and team, but I think all the side training we do and all the uncoached pick up soccer he plays at the park is what has improved his technical and finishing skills the most. Some parents will spend thousands and thousands on private training, special camps, but I refuse to pay for something that kids from the best countries in the world in soccer learn for free on the streets. Sorry for the rant lol…Sorry but I agree with your wife. If you're in California then private school is a must.
Sending your kids to public school in that state will actually make them dumber. I lived there my whole life and raised 2 kids there. Unfortunately couldn't afford private with my oldest but we learned the hard way to send my youngest to private school even if it means we eat ramen and beans every night.
Property tax
It’s the tax you pay on top of all the other tax for just existing here
i just recently started paying for landscaping at my house. I used to do 100% of my own work and have couple thousand dollars in tools but the lazy in me on top of the fact that im in good spot financially has won out. WHen they come, I know in my heart im paying money so I can sit on my ass.
