My big stupid hype trains thread.

Set up fight for Scott to DWCS?!
I guess that's the opinion of his team. They proved they can beat a good lay-and-prayer and now they prove they can beat an elite striker before the UFC
I also guess Binate's management wants to take Lee-Scott's DWCS spot by beating him

Yeah you'd imagine the winner of this is a shoe-in for the next contender series run.

This dudes like 28 and only has 7 fucking fights. Pass city.

Axel Sola should have a spot secured on DWCS if he wins on Saturday at ARES 28.

Sola is good but I don't think he's great. The draw vs Daguir just kinda showed me he lacks ooomph and athleticism. Another guy who isn't the youngest at 27 and doesn't have many pro fights either...granted the extensive amateur career, I don't feel like he's surging as a pro yet though.

Damian Rzepecki (23), Amru Magomedov (25), Marko Bojkovic (23), Juan Pablo Viera (21), Yuji Yannick Ephoeviga (25), Magomed-Giri Umarkhadziev (23), Harry Webb (25), Ramazan Gitinov (27), Salamat Isbulaev (28) (although I believe Isbulaev should be at 145).

These guys kinda top my list of who should be on the contender series at 155. All these dudes are signable too. Guys like Albert Gukov in ACA, Kade Ruotolo in ONE, Patrick Habirora in PFL. Will the UFC sign any of these guys? Probably not somehow lmao. Especially any of the ovs or evs. Cristian Perez caught an L to a bum in Karate Combat too, what the fuck.

I thought MGU's fight with Harris could have gone either way tbh. Not sure how sold I am on him.

I felt like MGU turned it up late from what I remembered, dropped Harris and showing to he the better athlete and more physical guy. Harris is a really good prospect in his own right, decorated Judo black belt, amazing amateur career, undefeated pro and like 24 years old. MGU being only 23...he's a guy to watch for sure.

Could well get a shot at the Ares belt if Sola leaves. Would be interesting to see him in with an experienced guy like Amin Ayoub or someone.

Yeah while the fight was close, it was obvious who had the talent and potential...MGU. similar to Kubanza vs that Dagi, it was close but also obvious Kubanza had all the potential. We will see how MGU cooks over the next year or two, that kinda decides everything but most prospects don't have the guts to fight a guy like Harris early on.

Third round submission win for Chopurov.

I guess he showed he can deal with adversity, but he's getting rocked every time he breaks, looked sloppy to me - even lost out in the positional grappling a few times - could have a Gamrot-esque ceiling, I guess, which to be fair isn't bad.

I was expecting an absolute machine.

Really? After the way he blistered through Levrentyev on the feet and the guys he's beaten, this should have been an easier one. Maybe the 23 year old needs to cook a little longer, he's been getting pushed hard professionally for being so young.

Just skimmed it on fight pass....Rosa is either huge or Chopurov is small. The strength difference was significant.

I guess the most important thing is he found a way to not only win, but finish - but yeah, I didn't expect him to struggle like that against a random guy.

I think it was likely headed to a 29-28, but what concerns me is how repeatable the issues he was having that kept putting him in trouble seem. He's tough, but I didn't expect him to lean so heavily on that in a fight like this, and the first round was torrid for the lad.

Probably overreacted a bit because I expected a hot knife passing through butter if I'm honest, but that's on me.

Nah, we all expected a hot knife through butter. Really had performance from Asaf, his opponent is a 17-9 regional Brazilian. That said, he packed a punch, could grapple and you could tell the physical size and strength really made Asaf uncomfortable in grappling exchanges. Chopurov better get to work eh

He was a strong dude for sure. They described him as a brawler before the fight, which might account for why he was particularly good landing in close/on the break, but not really an excuse.

I did look at that Brazilian's record and to be fair... he's fought some animals. Lost to them, but got some pretty good names on there.

Yeah, that's a learning experience for Asaf for real.
