Yeah being Welsh I'm a biased but despite being underwhelmed by Mason in his UFC stint I also thought it was odd he was released when you see guys who go 0-3 and somehow get a fourth. I guess he straddled that weird area where he's too good to be a launching pad for someone they like but also kinda boring in a way and not someone they want to launch.

He did alright. He beat Onama who was coming up a weight class but is very good, he was beating the shit out of Alan Patrick before the no contest, the loss to Davis was close and Davis is very good. Klein beat him clearly but that guy is hammering everyone at the moment.

I'm curious what Dana's solution for WW will be. I have felt like he has long mismanaged that division, because he wanted to keep wrestlers out, because that's what that division historically was, but now instead he has a division that is just bad, and dominated by bad wrestling instead of good wrestling. I know a lot of people have their hopes on Shavkat, I like the guy but he needs a backup plan because he's one more Belal upset away from having a miserable division.

They need to nab Musaev above all. Others like Storley, Jackson and even Amosov and Kuramagomedov aren't must-sign from an entertainment perspective, which is what they prioritize, but Shamil and Umalatov seem like the kind of guys they love. Sucks one of them has to lose since the UFC can be really anal about picking up a guy one fight removed from a loss even if they're quality.

Also should've brought back Tumenov when he left ACA. Really they need to stop being stupid about the russian cap.

Musaev would be cool. It will be a few years before his piss doesn't melt the pee cups haha. But yeah, they need to develop some sort of a strategy to sign new high level WWs because the pool is so stale right now.

I agree, the most mismanaged divisions in the UFC are 145lbs and 170lbs. Samandar Murodov, Baki Chamsoudinov, Cezary Oleksiejczuk, Michael Oliveira are like the main prospects to be signed. Saygid Izakhamaev is on the contender series that's a good get, Carlos Leal is a solid option, Adrian Bartosinski is another guy along with guys like Umalatov, Musaev and Kuramagomedov they should go after as well.

At 145lbs, which is a super shallow division with very few contenders...they passed up on Salahdine Parnasse and weren't willing to offer Losene Keita the big bucks so he went on to compete in the 1m Euro tournament. AJ McKee went with the money and resigned to Bellator. They didn't want Timur Khizriev and let Bellator sign him, Bibert Tumenov and Islam Omarov of ACA and ONEs Akbar Abdullaev are all elite guys who could contend in the UFC too. Really don't know what they're doing, they don't care about talent at all and demographics are a really polarizing thing for them too. Get used to it.

I think they managed it incredibly well these past couple years. They got Rei Tsuruya and Tatsuro Taira from Japan who are two of the best Flyweight prospects in the world, they fumbled on Makoto Shinryu due to cost but still. They got Asu Almabaev and Azat Maksum from Kazakhstan and from Brazil Igor Severino, Lucas Rocha, Rafael Estevam among others but these dudes were at the top of my list. US guys like Clayton Carptener, An Ho, Joshua Van and they have their finger on Bilal Hasan already. Letting Mokaev go sucks and they let Askarov go, they didn't want to sign Murad Magomedov or Azamat Kerefov either...they just don't really want Russians. They fumbled some guys, but I can't be certain they had visas. I was surprised they lost McGrillen Evans to PFL Europe, but mostly...they signed lots of the best talent.

Mcgrillen sucks imo. Just bounce in throw overhand, hope it lands, bounce out, rinse and repeat.

What are the chances of Odilov leaving ACA for a different org?
Guy is 31 now but smashing everyone recently, would really like to see him in the UFC.

This guy really reminds me of an Uzbek version of Baki with more bodylock work and double legs rather than trips. Other than that though he looks pretty similar, has the same fuck you I'm coming forward style but his punches are probably a little harder and more accurate so he does look like he could beat people standing too. Once he gets hold of people and gets them off balance he really shines though. He was fighting the GFC Champ from Georgia so it's not like he was in there with a can and he utterly dominated him in all aspects.

A Russian version of Fizzy pretty much. Has the same brutal muay thai style with the matrix like leanbacks to avoid shit and brutal kicks and elbows. A bit of a risk taker and can get clipped as a result but when he did get clipped pretty hard it looked like he didn't even notice so I suspect an iron chin is at play here. Takedown defence looks solid which is obviously important for a guy like this. It was the first time I've seen him so I can't say he's 100% the real deal yet but I was really fucking impressed.
