Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

I checked Twitter of that Georgian journalist, Giorgi Kokiashvili and recently he called Gogoladze future UFC fighter, so I assume I was wrong and he is not a UFC fighter at the moment.
Gogoladze also mentioned that if his manager didnt get him into the UFC by April, he would fire him and hire someone who could get him a fight there LMAO. I thought that was hilarious, he sounded desperate to get in.

BRAVE's prospect scouting recently has been really impressive.

This is very true and their shows have been very good these last few weeks. I agree with your thoughts here as well. Would love to see Mokaev solidify some position and drop some ground and pound, but those were some good scrambles.

Also was very impressed by Saint-Denis. He handled Luan pretty easily, very interested to see where he goes from here.

Islam Omarov

Country - Russia
Weight Class - Featherweight
Age : 23
Promotion - ACA
Record : 10-0

The absolute revelation of the weekend for me. I've seen Omarov fight before, but for some reason he's never really stuck out to me. This fight was absolutely his coming out party in my eyes as he comfortably dealt with the #1 FW on my hype list, Bibert Tumenov.

Yes, he controlled him with the wrestling and there was maybe a few moments in there which you could call wall and stall, but the way he managed to effectively stand with a striker as good as Tumenov, go backwards on the feet, countering and then choosing the perfect movements to circle out around an advance to where Tumenov was the one against the cage and shoot from there was so well executed.

Really the only thing I can criticise him for is I'd maybe like to see him have controlled Bibert a little better once he got him on the floor and I'll be looking for more finishes from him going forward, but other than that this was pretty much a flawless performance.

Apti Bimazaev

Country - Belarus
Weight Class - Featherweight
Age : 28
Promotion - ACA
Record : 17-3

I've always given credit to Apti for being a true warrior who tends to get into amazing fights (his fight with Ramazan Kishev), but now perhaps it's time I give him credit as a top fighter period. He's now on a 13 fight win streak after a slow start to his career and put on a one sided performance against a very dangerous opponent in Tural Ragimov. Used his wrestling more than usual to dominate the fight and looked good on the feet too. Also didn't get knocked down and have to come back in this one, but I already know everything I need to know about his heart.

Muslim Magomedov

Country - Russia
Weight Class - Light Heavyweight
Age : 26
Promotion - ACA
Record : 9-0

I maintain that this guy is actually an out of shape MW, but while he keeps winning at LHW I would guess he's going to stay there. Seems to have a way of winning fights without it actually looking like he's trying particularly hard. Beat an experienced Brazilian in Leandro Silva without really breaking a sweat. Probably due a title fight next.

Amirkhan Guliev

Country - Russia
Weight Class - Light Heavyweight
Age : 29
Promotion - ACA
Record : 10-1

I had to put this dude on for the pure disdain he had for his opponents skills in this fight as he just kicked the shit out of his leg until he fell over and then walked over and basically stood over him and pulled his leg until he tapped.

Other thoughts from the weekend.

Vanessa Demopoulos (32/SW/USA/LFA/6-3) - Great performance in demolishing Cynthia Arceo who's actually an alright opponent. She looks a bit awkward in there sometimes but she's a just bleed princess who always comes to fight and is always entertaining to watch and I'd be up for her getting a shot in the UFC, she might get beaten up, but I don't think she gives a shit about that. She'd have to be behind Lupita Godinez in the queue to get in though seeing as she lost to her previously.

Fernie Garcia (28/FW/USA/LFA/9-1) - I have my doubts about this guy at the top level. He gets hit an awful lot and doesn't have a lot of power himself which I don't think will serve him well in the UFC. He is however quite well rounded and I'd say he probably deserves a shot on the contender series this summer.

Josh Quinlan (28/WW/USA/LFA/5-0) - I like this dudes hustle, he's always coming forward looking to hurt his opponent. He also has excellent cardio which he uses to overwhelm people late in fights when I've seen him. I think he's a bit rough round the edges and I'm not sure he's big show ready yet though his aggression and fun factor could well find him on the contender series.

Bibert Tumenov (23/FW/Russia/ACA/10-2) - I remain extremely high on him, but he got thoroughly dominated in this fight. Needs to work on his separation in the clinch. His TDD was actually fairly solid and his get ups weren't too bad, he just couldn't stop Islam sticking to him. It's no good having some of the best hands in the sport if you can't create the space to use them. Kind of a similar problem to the one his cousin used to have actually.

Felipe Froes (25/FW/Brazil/ACA/20-5) - Felipe had nothing for Frodo unfortunately. Now Frodo is a top level fighter so there's no real shame in that, but he needs to have some kind of threat on his back or be able to get up better if he hopes to succeed at UFC level.

Things can only get better for him lol. I guess Nikita Krylov did the same thing once and it was on like three days notice.

It got him in, so hopefully he does better next time.
Im assuming they'll have him back wo hopefully he can redeem himself.

I'm pretty sure that name of Shakhruramazanov is Gergi/Gergy (Герги in Russian) but for some strange reason some sites like Tapology changes his name to Georgy. And such name for a Dagestani guy with such surname -- it's like if there were some Japanese mma fighter named Gaylord Sugiyama.

hang on whats wrong with georgy ?

Noticed Tobias Harila at the latest Cage warriors event. 9 wins, 8 of them by knockout. Only 1 submission loss. If I understood it correctly his last opponent before Cage warriors, Adam Westlund is a welterweight and Tobias is a featherweight. Both of them cleaned out their divisions in Sweden and decided to meet in the middle at lightweight. Seems to have heavy hands for a featherweight.

Updated rankings.

Not really a great deal this weekend.

We've got a BRAVE show on Thursday which contains.

- Jarrad Hussein Al-Silawi (Jordan/MW/15-3) who I'm not sure how old he is, but he's fighting ex UFC fighter Ismail Naurdiev, who's still a prospect himself really.

- @tehMoose 's old soccer friend Bosislav Nikolic (28/Serbia/BW/8-0) has an extremely tough test in former TUF winner and UFC vet Brad Katona.

-#9 ranked LHW Anton Turkalj (24/Sweden/LHW/6-0) has a fight against a random Kazakh dude.

- Brendan Lesar (27/South Africa/MW/3-1) has also accepted a late notice fight against ADCC grappler Rustam Chsiev. His record doesn't look anything special until you look deeper into it and his only loss was to Dricus Du Plessis and he's already got a win over a UFC vet in Garreth McLellan.

Then also on Thursday we've got CFFC for Solomon Renfro (24/USA/WW/6-1) who got caught and stunned then choked in his last fight, but has been very impressive whenever I've seen him and even in that fight apart from about 10 seconds.

This post made me curious so I did some googlin'. Looks like Al Silawi is 28 or 29. Also, this looks like another fun card by Brave. Three title fights, flyweight tournament with Bagautinov vs Dustin Ortiz and Makovsky in a rematch. Plus a fun undercard. Looking forward to it.

Also curious to see how Hafez does in his first title defense on that CFFC card.

Yeah I'm really impressed by BRAVE, they seem to be becoming the defacto gateway organisation to the UFC for fighters outside the US and UK, they're signing really promising prospects all the time. They seem to have almost a domination on IMMAF ammy champions turning pro with them.

Does seem that way. Personally, I never gave them much attention until they signed Shorty Torres and I thought "what is this Brave thing?"

Of course I think it was Rogan who said he likes fighting so much he could watch two bums fight under an overpass. I identify with that.

Yeah, it's a good mix of prospects and UFC vets to challenge the prospects once they're ready.

They've got Torres, Dustin Ortiz, Ali Bagautinov, Brad Katona, Ismael Naurdiev and a few others now.
