Bruna Brasil

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Strawweight
Age : 28
Promotion - LFA
Record : 7-2-1

I was more interested in Yasmin Castanho coming into this fight, but boy did Bruna make her look average.

Really one of the best taekwondo style WMMA strikers I've seen. Hands down, quick movement in to strike, back out again before any counters come back and then usually back in again to counter the failed counter. Also possesses a lovely repertoire of spin kicks and gets her high kicks up beautifully. Also looked pretty comfortable when she needed to grapple with black belt opponent.

Extremely impressed, could be in the UFC immediately based on this performance.

Fatima Kline

Country - USA
Weight Class - Strawweight
Age : 21
Promotion - Invicta
Record : 2-0

2-0 is earlier than I usually go with people, but I'm going with Kline primarily because her grappling style is going to be such an issue for people. Just superb control once she gets people down, beating them to the next position and threatening with subs and ground and pound constantly. Beat Sid Trillo who was a well regarded prospect very easily.

Reminds me a bit of Erin Blanchfield in her grappling style.
I was really impressed with both of them too. Apparently Kline is Blanchfield's main training partner, so the similarity makes sense.

Part one of new rankings.

Since last time #5 SW Yasmin Jauregui signed for the UFC

Excuse my prickishness, but why is Cunha still listed as 6-0 when he lost his last fight?

Must have missed it when updating, will fix on the next update. Cheers.

Probably be 6-2 by then given he's fighting Buchecha at the weekend lol.

Do you think Buchecha might struggle to take him down?

These BJJ phenoms often have poor takedowns when they cross over.

Yeah, that's the part of the fight I think could be interesting as Cunha is a decent wrestler. He's not a good striker though so maybe Buchecha could even beat him on the feet.

That's the most likely outcome - a shitty K-1 Maia type performance, Cunha's also a good submissions guy so I can't see Buchecha taking him down or tapping him to be honest.

I reckon he taps him if it hits the mat, but I also suspect it only goes there if Cunha decides to wrestle.

It's difficult to overstate how good Buchecha's BJJ is though.

Funny episode. Richie Lewis accused Bo Nickal of not fighting tough enough competition for his pro debut. Richie Lewis fought someone who was 1-3 in his pro debut. These spats are pointless but the irony is hard to miss.

Austin Bashi

Country - USA
Weight Class - Bantamweight
Age : 20
Promotion - Shamrock FC
Record : 6-0

It's been a gradual hop on for me but I'm finally officially on board the Bashiwagon. I guess my only criticism of him so far is that as dominant as he'd looked he'd only fought low level opposition to this point. He changed that at the last Shamrock show fighting a solid 6-1 29 year old guy and making it look pretty easy.

Standup seems to be getting there but it's the wrestling where this kid stands out as he seems to be a true blue chip prospect with great takedowns, extremely fast transitions between positions, really good ground and pound and puts a crazy pace on guys which he looks to have the cardio to maintain easily.

At only 20 years old it might be a bit early for the UFC at this point, but maybe a move for a couple of LFA fights and he'll be ready to make the jump in a year or so when he'll still be extremely young.

Top class prospect.

Another one of those Russian/French prospects, this one out of MMA Factory. Looks extremely quick for a welterweight with very sharp hands and good kicks with good movement to avoid being in range for his opponent. Showed that he had the Chechen wrestling too when he got bored of beating his opponent up on the feet.

Dariya Zheleznyakova

Country - Russia
Weight Class - Bantamweight
Age : 26
Promotion - ARES
Record : 7-0

Passed her UFC ready test with flying colours in beating the crap out of Liana Jojua for three rounds. Really good striking and easily fending off takedown attempts from an increasingly desperate looking Jojua. Looks hard to hold against the cage too as she uses frames to turn off the cage comfortably. Good kicks to maintain distance and good accumulation of damage over the course of the fight. Next fight should be in UFC gloves.

@Hellowhosthat

I like this thread.

I also saw your discussion in the Scott Coker thread and thought it would be interesting to see how you rank the different organisations. Didn't want to hijack that thread.

Personally I think KSW is the best european organisation since the original Cage Warrios disappeared a few years ago. I also saw you mentioned ACA, don't really consider them european and stopped watching them since they got removed from youtube. Would be interested in your view on comparing those two organisations.

#2 LHW is scheduled for the CS again, 7/26. Hopefully he doesn't have visa issues again

They are back on Youtube btw.
