Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

Unheralded but undefeated Israeli wrestler Eli Aronov just thoroughly dominated and finished #6 MW Mariusz Ksiazkiewicz.

Very impressive performance. Built like a brick shit house and clearly extremely strong.
Damn, I guess I need to watch that bout. I was expecting it to be a can crushing by Mariusz since Aronov hasn't faced anyone with more then two bouts who had a winning record

#2 LHW is scheduled for the CS again, 7/26. Hopefully he doesn't have visa issues again

Turkalj? Yeah hopefully he makes it this time.

Fucking wow......Aronov. Now that's an awesome, under the radar win. @Hellowhosthat - looks like your top 10 has got a new MW playa.

I like this thread.

I also saw your discussion in the Scott Coker thread and thought it would be interesting to see how you rank the different organisations. Didn't want to hijack that thread.

Personally I think KSW is the best european organisation since the original Cage Warrios disappeared a few years ago. I also saw you mentioned ACA, don't really consider them european and stopped watching them since they got removed from youtube. Would be interested in your view on comparing those two organisations.

Hmm

Hype train entry #2 for Manumito as he continues to excel. Dude is just physically a beast with natural strength in grappling and natural power in striking. Physically hard to deal with, sometimes gets taken down but just gets back up and starts beating you up again. Crowned off another great performance with a Sean O'Malley style KO and then called for a shot at the Contender Series which surely he gets.

Poor old Mariusz Ksiakiewicz must have thought he was getting an easy win for his record to build towards the UFC when he took a fight against this dude on short notice. Little did he know he'd accepted a fight against some kind of Israeli super soldier experiment. Dude is stacked and strong, and really fucking strong. Very good wrestling, able to hold down a dude that I've never seen outgrappled before with quite a lot of ease.

Not lay and pray style grappling either, actively ground and pounding and hunting for subs from the top the whole time. Looks an absolute nightmare to fight.

He hasn't really taken the requisite step up in competition just yet but this dude is violent which always gets points with me. His goal is basically just to get the other guy out of there as quickly as possible and this time it took him a minute and 20 seconds to launch over, start hammering the guy, dominate the grappling and quickly lace up a Darce. Nobody has even come close to getting out of the first round with him so far.

Dominantly finishing Ksiakiewicz who would be favored against many active UFC MWs is extremely impressive for a fighter who was effectively 0-0. Assuming he returns to Israel he should continue developing his striking fundamentals with specific emphasis on range-finders and striking defense. He should take at least 2 more fights in North America, against high level regional opposition, where he can put those newly acquired striking skills into practice. Rebooking his previously cancelled fight with KB Bhullar for October/November would serve him well. KB is exactly the level of opponent he should look to be fighting to gauge whether he has made meaningful progress.

He appears to have some power and naturally good striking instincts so if he puts in the time it will show. Aronov could probably win a contract now on DWCS but being a 5"10 Middleweight without a sense of range is too much of a long term liability in the UFC. The UFC MW division just has too many competent strikers built similarly to Ksiakiewicz for Aronov to not be knocked out several times with his current striking pedigree. It would be a major mistake to book Aronov on DWCS right now when he can spend a year developing into a well rounded fighter and gaining much needed experience.

Ksiazkiewicz should still get a call the next time the UFC need a short notice MW replacement as he is without question UFC caliber.

100% Sousa is the real deal and has been for a while now. If he isn't on the upcoming DWCS that is an indictment on the UFC's talent evaluation process.

UFC keeps adding to their women's divisions your #6. Melissa Martinez "Super Mely" - 23 (Mexico) 7-0 Still like the name Smelly Melly better. & Featherweight #6. Chelsea Chandler - 29 (USA) 4-1, looks like another choice of yours too Emily Ducote - 27 (USA) 10-6.

'Buchecha' crushed a can, now 3-0.

Tbf apparently nobody wanted to fight him.

Interesting weekend for early career heavyweights with D1 wrestler Ben Tynan looking good in the LFA to go 2-0 and 6'7 Cuban Taekwondo Olympic bronze medallist Robelis Despaigne winning his pro debut with a nice uppercut.

That's a very solid win for Tynan as a 1-0 guy going in. Wallace isn't terrible, finishing a 4-1 guy in less than 2 mins is impressive for a MMA rookie. Tynan's definitely one to watch.

He was hanging his chin out when pushing forward a bit more than I'd like but once he got on top it was a wrap.
