Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

Damn, if I was Bellator or PFL, take Rizvan Kuniev, Aaron Jeffery, and
Caio Borralho
Oh God no! Unless they want to bore people to death. Specially Jeffrey, stay away from him

Was very disappointed Chris Duncan couldn’t fight last night. Been waiting to see him for a year now. He would’ve smashed that Albanian guy and got a deal.
What happened to the Duncan fight?

If anything I would make a move on Almeida. He gassed out blasting Zellhuber in the first round. If he kept his composure and kept his gas tank he might have gotten the decision his way.

These types of fights are always entertaining but make me wonder about their ground games. Neither of them seemed to be very eager to engage in the ground.

Anyways, book Zellhuber vs Mason Jones next, please.

I don't think Rizvan is very good tbh. Edivan was just horrible and Rizvan made hard work of it. Imagine what Belostenniy, either Vakhaev, Kornilov or even Evgeny Goncharov would have done to that dude. I can see why he didn't give him the contract and tbh if there is a Russian quota I'm happy he isn't clogging it up.

Borralho should have got a deal imo, Jeffery was the one making the fight boring by constantly jamming him against the cage. What's Borralho supposed to do, let him take him down? He even released bodylocks in advantageous positions to stand with him. I have a feeling that the matchmakers will get him in at some point soon as a late replacement, dude just has to stay ready. If I'm Coker I'm for sure asking the question though.

Also very impressed with Almeida, haven't seen him before and he made Zellhuber work for that and we know how good I think Zellhuber is.

Agree with all of this, spot on.

I liked Almeida a lot as well. Dude's tough as nails and has a fun style. But Zellhuber showed why he is so hyped. Was getting tagged early and bit down on his mouth piece and made the adjustments necessary to win. Started to find his range and time Almeida's shot and pick him apart from the outside. Zellhuber is an absolute stud. He's got all the tools to be a star. Don't know how much longer he can make 155 but imagine him vs Michael Morales in 5 or 6 years? Central and South America are starting to produce some really good fighters.

Yep, keep an eye out for Cristian Perez, Francesco Patron and Alberto Montes too, I reckon they're next.

Feel bad for Chris Duncan, I hope he gets a shot.

I'm sure he will, I suspect they might do one mop up episode this year to fit all the guys who've had issues with covid, visas etc on. There's him, Turkalj, Askhabov, Basharat and Capaldo to match up.

Wait, what happened to Turkalj?

This makes sense, Zellhuber, Duncan, and Almeida are amazing picks for an already saturated LW division. I really wish PFL, RIZIN, or Bellator would have picked them up to build their divisions.

On a separate note, as long as the UFC can keep getting this type of fighters for 12k/12k, there is no way Vartanyan, Raisov, Tumenov, etc. will get a shot, not unless they are willing to fight for minimum wage.

I think that's what Gamrot did in the end, but he subsidised it by winning POTN in every fight so far and now he's got a win over Stephens I imagine he gets a much nicer second contract.

He is 1-1 in the UFC, though and those POTN are not guaranteed. So, chances are he is going home with 12k or 24k minus taxes for his next fight.

Why would he get a bigger contract next? He is not a name fighter, and a victory over Stephens doesnt hold that much value nowadays. Plus, he is easily replaceable with young bangers for 12k/12k.

Just imagine a PFL season 2022 with Zellhuber, Almeida, and Duncan competing. Or Almeida vs Musayev and Satoshi vs Zellhuber in RIZIN. Shit, Zellhuber, Duncan, Almeida vs Awad, Usman, Nallo, Nikaev, etc. in Bellator.
