Limelight My big stupid hype trains thread.

Milson Castro

Country - Brazil
Weight Class - Lightweight
Age : 31
Promotion - RCC
Record - 14-3

Maybe a bit on the older side for a prospect in the lighter divisions but I'm going with him anyway. Last time I saw him, he showed an interesting grappling game, getting a nice heel hook on a solid opponent. This fight was different as he showed an awesome stalking striking game, just constantly walking down a really solid opponent in Timur Nagibin and hitting him with good shot variety all over the body. Dude was throwing hands, elbows, feet, knees and causing a fighter as good as Timur to spend most of the fight shelling up.

Brazilians never get matched easy in Russia either and since going there he's now beaten 14-1 Gordeev, 12-2 Palchenkov and now 18-5 Nagibin. I hope he gets his UFC opportunity before time passes him by.

Just because I got randomly curious about the nationality spread of the dudes I've been hyping here it is so far in case anyone other than me cares.

Lydell Poag

Country - USA
Weight Class - Middleweight
Age : 23
Promotion - CFFC
Record - 1-0

I think this is the first time I've hype trained someone after their pro debut. This is a lanky guy fighting out of Jackson/Wink with split shorts and a really long wing span. He then brutally finished his opponent with smashing them with vicious elbows on the ground.

Remind you of anyone?

I totally missed this post, I had stopped watching his account due to inactivity. He does not fight nearly enough, particularly given that he's already 31. I want him to take a big step up, take on Rosta or Murtazaliev, or maybe Novenyi Jr. But prove yourself, because he's too old with too little experience to be dabbling in MMA and fighting once a year. Show the fans, show Bellator why they should push you, why they should promote you, why we as the fans should care about you. Because MMA can and will move on quickly. There will be another stud who shows up from another gym with an impressive record who people can get behind. Who knows, it could literally be Lydell Poag. Someone is going to show up who is serious about their career and Bellator will push that guy. And I know his camp has been turning down fights. I get it in the sense that some matchups are scary, but if every matchup is scary then maybe you're just not at a place that's training you right. And I heard there are a lot of injuries at AKA and maybe he has nagging injuries. Ok, more signs you should be somewhere else. Because if you're constantly hurt and you're not confident in your ability to get in there against a Taylor Johnson, against a Dalton Rosta, you won't be healthier at 36 and the competition only gets better than Taylor Johnson when he was 6-1, or Dalton Rosta when he was 3-0.

I really really want to root for this guy, I would describe myself as a big fan, but he is not on the right trajectory. At the start of 2019, Austin Vanderford joined Bellator at 6-0, Cotton was 3-0. They're the same age, Austin is 2 just weeks younger. Now Austin has had 5 fights, is 11-0, and is fighting for a title likely before the end of the year. Johnny Eblen joined one month after Austin when he was 4-0, he's won 5 fights since and is now 5-0 since for a cumulative 9-0 and will likely fight in a title eliminator soon. Dalton Rosta made his pro debut that same month, he's also now 5-0 after winning 5 fights. And Cotton has had 2 fights and he's now 5-0. He needs to be busy, otherwise he will be forgotten.

Yasmin Jauregui

Country - Mexico
Weight Class - Strawweight
Age : 22
Promotion - Combate Global
Record - 8-0

Very impressive performance from Yasmin in winning the 115 8 woman tournament in Combate, getting two wins by stoppage and another by easy decision. She has insanely fast hand speed and the combination of her being tough to take down, good at using the cage to get back up and the way she blitzes girls against the cage until they don't want any more reminds me a little bit of Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Fighters that I liked the look of this week but didn't get hype train status.

CFFC

- DeAndre Anderson (24/FW/USA/5-0) looked good on the CFFC show against fellow unbeaten prospect Jose Perez who I've mentioned on here before, flattening him in seconds. Difficult to read too much into it as they were both swinging at the time, but he certainly at least has power, so I've got my eye on him for sure.

- Timothy Cuamba (22/FW/USA/3-0) put on a nice pressure boxing performance at CFFC. He beat up James Lyons who was the guy I was actually looking out for. It was Cuamba who came out of the fight looking like the prospect though as he walked down Lyons and beat him up with fast combos, nearly having him out of there on a couple of occassions.

PFL

- Magomed Magomedkerimov (31/WW/Russia/29-4) did what I'd expect him to do in his PFL semi against Sadibou Sy really. Didn't really lose or gain anything in my estimation in a routine win. Now has the big test in the finals rematch against Ray Cooper III

- Loik Radhzabov (30/LW/Tajikistan/15-3-1) avenged his PFL loss from earlier in the season against Alex Martinez in a close but clear fight. Showed some decent adjustments from their first encounter and was much better at holding and controlling top position against Martinez who's proven to be pretty tricky to hold down there this season.

- Magomed Umalatov (29/WW/Russia/11-0) had as good a performance as you could reasonably expect on the PFL card against a tough and wily vet in Leandro Silva. Nothing spectacular but Buscape is hard to look good against.

Michael Lombardo (31/WW/USA/11-2) was much more entertaining than I remember him being from his contender series appearances in stopping Kyron Bowen with pretty brutal leg kicks.

UWC

- Juan Diaz (23/BW/Peru/7-0) showed nice aggressive offensive striking and grappling against a journeyman in Juan Campos. Dealt with his man with ease and already has another fight booked in a couple of weeks. One of the young prospects out of Entram gym

- Andres Luna Martinetti (25/FLW/Ecuador/11-0) is another Entram product with really nice grappling who comfortably got his journeyman opponent out of there. Ready for a step up at 11-0 I think.

Unified

- Graham Park (32/LHW/Canada/8-2) was solid in getting a stoppage win against 9-9 Neil Berry. Nothing amazing, but it's slim pickings at LHW, so he gets a mention even though he probably wouldn't if he was a BW or something.

I wonder if Lemos will get another chance? They gave one to Carlos Felipe, who got immediately USADA'd upon signing.

This could be a good card if Roland Dunlap, Edwin Cooper Jr, and Josh Silveira all stay on the card. Jacobi Jones should also be fit in a card somewhere ala the last instagram post. I also wonder which event Mo Miller is fighting on.

Also, Movsar is back in Miami.

Mo Miller is on the UFC Fight Pass app. I think he has a contender series fight against Brandon Lewis which hasn't been announced for some reason.

That's awesome but at the same time scary. I don't think he's ready for the UFC. Even if he gets past Lewis I think he needs a couple more fights seasoning before he'd be reading to put together a win streak in the UFC and get in the rankings.

I think making the UFC too early can be very dangerous. Even talented guys like the kid Drako Rodriguez from 2 cards ago. I think with more fights he could be in the UFC but he's just missing some things here and there, but the consequence is that he's probably 1 loss from being cut. And it's a lot harder to get in the second time.

I tend to think Mo could do fine if he isn't put straight in there with killers. He has a style of wrestling and top control that's difficult to stop. I think he can certainly beat people like Jesse Strader.

Yeah, that's true. He's also had a full year just to train and work on technique. Hope you're right.

On a side note, I'm excited about this one.

UFC seems to be signing more fighters with russian sounding names.. that are not russian Saidyokub Kakhramonov is listed as Uzbekistan on UFC site, but most sites list him as from USA. I wonder if they have limits on fighters they can just switch their country.

Made an Insta Story announcement yesterday, going into MMA soon. I'm not the biggest fan of Team Alpha Male...but it's a place to start. He's a talented kid, will be exciting to watch.

Oh wow she thick!!
