I'm surprised so many people are counting out Cannonier. I know he's getting up there in age and has historically struggled with technical strikers picking him apart from the outside... but he proved he still has at least a little tread left on the tires against Robocop. Sure you can blame that on Robocop fighting dumb and gassing himself out, but still. A lot of dudes don't survive that, much less come back to KO their opponent.
More important, MVP's no spring chicken himself and his fighting style is a lot more reliant on athleticism, speed, and reaction time than that of Jared. I think Page moving to 185 is a tacit admission that his age is catching up to him and the weight cuts are likely getting more difficult as a result. I suspect he thinks that he can retain some degree of his speed advantage over the bigger, less technical Middleweights on the feet... which, to be fair, he probably can. There is absolutely a world where Venom copies Caio and Imavov's homework and darts around, lighting Jared up with those blitzes and crazy looping punches while evading his counters and making the big man chase him ineffectually. I could see him win a Decision or TKO victory for sure.
That being said... MVP is a Welterweight who will now be a bloated 185er fighting a fairly jacked Middleweight who once upon a time was KO'ing dudes at HW. The disparity in physicality if the two end up in grappling exchanges is likely going to be very apparent, especially because Venom has always struggled to some degree whenever dudes tried to wrestle with him -- even when he was in his athletic prime and competing against fellow Welterweights. Storley took him down and held him down for the better part of 25 rounds in Bellator. Garry was able to use his B-game to do much the same. Even pure strikers like Daley and Lima have had moments of success implementing takedowns and top control against him. He just doesn't seem very physically strong and anyone with a beanpole physique like that is always going to be there to be taken down.
That's troubling considering Cannonier has spent a lot of time working on his grappling in recent years. He took down Robocop and Vettori despite those two being enormous Middleweights known for solid TDD. He took down Imavov, Brunson, and even took a round off Izzy by being content to grind him against the cage via clinch work & cage-wrestling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's willing & able to do the same to MVP.
