MVP got a gift matchup and he still lost

It was a surprise to me that he lost…

But I doubt the UFC was rooting for him to win the fight.

I dont really see how marketable he can be.
I mean the guy is a very good fighter no doubt but he is not exciting and he has no charisma.

He's kind of like Colby, not many people like him, but he gets talked about a lot.

He'll never be a mega star, but if he headlines a card people will tune in.

The "gift" was supposed to be for the fans. MVP is 37 years old and was just brought in for some fun striking matchups, and Garry talked a bunch of shit about he's going to KO him, then did everything he could to panic wrestle, pull guard, and landed 9 standing strikes in 15 minutes.

Really not sure why "hopefully" they match him up with a bunch of grapplers. It does nothing for them, does nothing for him, and they're crap matchups for the fans.

He just got outwrestled by a striker. He doesn't deserve any more gift matchups. Feed him to Neil Magny and let's be done with it. Who else even is there in the top 15 who won't wrestle him?

Not sure why you think it was a gift matchup, I had Garry winning, although I think a draw was in order. 1st round Garry, 2nd round MVP, 3rd round draw, neither guy won that last one.

Neither guy will ever win the belt.

I agree with the draw in principle. Shit rounds like round 3 should just be split because it's asinine to really try to nitpick a 'winner' out of that trash.

But the problem is that if they loosen up draw criteria, mong judges will award them all the time to avoid doing their job in close-ish rounds where there is still a winner.

Garry looked like shit.

He barely won the third by literally doing no damage, panic hugging and landing no strikes.

In fact, he barely threw the entire fight after saying so many times he'd KO him.

MVP was getting fed to Garry so Ian could get a name win over a known fighter. Dana would rather his top guys beat the Bellator guys than the other way around. If MVP had won then Dana would have just given him another tough fight.

I know people are going to bitch, but I was impressed with what Ian did coming in with a grappling gameplan. It lets everybody know from here on out they can't just prepare for a striking battle and Ian is willing to do whatever it takes to win.

The hell is with your weird obsession with Neil Magny? Be done with what? Be done with entertaining matchups? Is Garry a striker now? He sure as hell didn't look like it yesterday, he turned into Ryan Hall as soon as he realized MVP was too fast for him.

Garry is the one with the #7 ranking, give him to Sean Brady instead of a bunch of senior citizens.

Magny is the most notable gatekeeper in the division.

MVP's takedown defense has always been trash. He got easily D1'd by Paul Daley, of all people. Most strikers turn into grapplers against him as they know it's his kryptonite. The Garry defeat just gives more credence that he (MVP) hasn't evolved much in the filed.

He's at number 14. He got to pass over Magny, Neal, and Brady, 3 gatekeeper grapplers who in all likelyhood would have shut him down. He got a gift matchup against a striker at rank number 7 and he still got outwrestled. Only reason he got this fight is because Colby is a complete coward. Clearly they were trying the Poatan career path with him. It's just funny to see certain fighters get UFC favoritism. Hopefully he has to face one of those guys in his next fight.
MVP is here for a good time not a long time. He's not championship material let him bang bro!
Also in what world is Neal a grappler? If they were booked to fight you could make this same thread.

And Brady is young with one loss vs the number one contender and he's a gatekeeper?

The obvious thing to do is let the old karate guys fight against each other Wonderboy vs MVP.

It would only be a gift match up if Garry actually did what he said he was going to do- try to knock MVP out. Instead Garry panic wrestled and didn't land a single punch or kick. Did zero damage. The only time they spent on the feet, MVP landed bombs on Garry with no problem at all. Cheap wing for a guy who said he was going to KO MVP.

It was cuck on cuck violence
Both were scared
Machado scared on the feet
Page scared on the ground

If Page worked on his TD defence instead of his dance moves, he could of maybe done something
There’s a reason why he stayed in Bellator for so long
He should of just stuck to kickboxing

He should of KO’d Machado, but Machado cucked him

Fuck giving fighters favourable matchups all the time, that’s clown shit

QFT. Ian BBL had the opportunity to show just how "great" his striking was against a very competent striker, and instead turned into Ryan Hall for fooks sake. Just an embarrassing show by The Cuck.

Ian couldn't submit him even though MVP made many mistakes in the grappling. You sure Ian is a striker? So slow.

Yeah MVP was too fast. Ian should have just got knocked the fuck out or took the L like a man. Great take nostradumbass.
