Social Muslim call to prayer echoes out in Minn

I am glad someone knows their history of South Asia in this thread. From what I have read one main reason for the conversion of Punjabi and Sindhi people to Islam was that Sufi missionaries were used as mediators in land disputes and my ancestors were very impressed with the fairness and thoughtfulness in which the Sufi's solved these land disputes.
Huh, did not know that but it makes a lot of sense. What a lot of people don't understand about sharia in the premodern era is that it wasn't a top down system but rather it was a bottom up, grassroots system that relied on the moral authority, not coercive power, of the judges(or in this case Sufis). People often relied on trusted third party mediators to arbitrate disputes in the world before an expansive, bureaucratic justice system imposed by a central state monopolized that role. Often it could be a respected village elder or something like that but if those failed then sharia courts would be the last resort.

Don't blame non-Muslims for that misunderstanding though since its one shared by modern Muslims who want to flip the sharia on its head and turn into into something more like Western law in terms of being a coercive top down structure. But that goes against the spirit of the sharia which assumes the jurist is a respected member of the community, not some alienated bureaucrat

Unless it's excessively loud and breaks noise ordinance laws, shutting it down would be a violation of the 1st amendment. You can't just shut down speech because you don't like the message--especially if it's religious or political.

True but if I can hear it in my home or even my property don't I have the right to be free from religious and or political messages. People's rights end where someone else's begin.

I got used to it when I was in Kuala Lumpur. Non-muslims are pissed if the malays build a mosque in their neighborhoods though as it drives their properties value down that they're forced to sell them and move out.

I’m intuitively put off by calls to prayer, it’s so rude imo. I would feel rude if I would take a megaphone and call for a sacrifice for whatever swamp god I’m trying to appease that week.

Its a different experience
I agree and the tendency to mindlessly rely on electronic and digital solutions and remove the human element from everything is a corrosive influence on society. But in certain circumstances I agree with him. At the mosque I attend the vast majority of adherents don't live near the mosque and the vast majority of the people who live near it aren't Muslim so in that case there's no point to adhan.

IMO the approach should be rooted in Islam's ideals of good neighborliness. IIRC the "neighborhood" in Islam is defined as the nearest 40 houses so the mosque should try and get unanimous approval from the nearest 40 houses for adhan. If its primarily a Muslim neighborhood that shouldn't be too hard, if its not then maybe reconsider adhan

Maybe if you live in Anatolia. Your privat live shouldn't be invaded by religion just because the neighbohrs want to.

Not to be an alarmist but this is how it starts in every country they eventually overwhelm.

afghanistan was a Buddhist country, Lebanon was Christian, Pakistan was Hindu....

If you think about it atheists on the left will probably facilitate the same thing happening in the west.
lol this is such bs man the countries u mentioned was not taken over through immigration and refugees, they were conquered by the sword

they could atleast play some tekno music like sandstorm or something like that.

No shit western countries aren’t going to be taken by the sword anymore, it’s going to have to be done in a more “passive” way, immigration, refugees and out breeding like you mentioned.

It’s literally happening right now before your eyes albeit more exponentially in Europe than the US. That will change if Trump doesn’t win re-election though.

Everything I’m saying is fact which makes it even funnier when people try to deny it. I’m not stating some conspiracy theory here.

If you are not sure what unanimous means, here's the definition
u·nan·i·mous
/yo͞oˈnanəməs/

adjective: unanimous
(of two or more people) fully in agreement.
"the doctors were unanimous in their diagnoses"

They started immigrating to Dearborn Michigan in the 90’s and are now just under half the population with 40,000 people. These are mostly immigrants though, Europe has a lot more refugees coming in which is the other side of the coin that I don’t necessarily agree with. Refugees are least likely to assimilate to western culture.

how do you limit soundwaves to 40 houses? It just reaches the radius and stops? like i said, might be a solution to a village, in an actuall city it is just a stupid aproach.
