Nope.. sorry but they didn't made the right call with this casting choice. I strongly appose to this choice @Dragonlordxxxxx I've found my next off casting maybe this time I will be wrong who knows.

Man and from all Disney animations that I grew up I only really liked a handful and this was one of them.

For me the things that are iconic to Ariel's look are a few things like the: strong red hair in contrast to her porcelain skin then her big eyes and a petite kinda frail build. That's just for her iconic look then the talk beginnings for the rest.. they didn't nail any of this, (okay the eyes do work looking at her more).

It’s not hard to understand, the character was written a certain way. If you want to make a movie about a black mermaid, go for it just call it something else. Someone today in the movie industry gave this example. “I have a problem if you were casting an Asian/Chinese actor to play JFK because JFK was who he was.” Going on that logic, how and why would you want to change this mermaid, Batman or Superman to a Brazilian, Tibetan etc etc etc? They are who they are. So as they were created and written.

Someone today in the movie industry gave this example. “I have a problem if you were casting an Asian/Chinese actor to play JFK because JFK was who he was.” Going on that logic, how and why would you want to change this mermaid, Batman or Superman to a Brazilian, Tibetan etc etc etc? They are who they are. So as they were created and written.

It doesn’t seem as though the creators or the people in Disney that own the rights care about the children, young adults and adults that grew up with the Little Mermaid the way she was (Caucasian). However, I bet anyone $1,000.00 that if they changed a black character (Blade, Black Panther etc) that there would be people from generations past to complain. Or better yet people in the organization to listen to the complaints and rectify the situation accordingly.

I’m not into any of these cartoons or live action movies however once they start changing other things like Superman into a black gentleman or Batman into a Puerto Rican, I won’t spend my money on it and I would suggest that to anyone. In 2004, Aliens vs Predator was released. In this film, you have Predators merrily milling about in the Antarctic - the coldest, most hostile place on Earth.

I grew up knowing that Predators only like hot places. In jungles pulling the spines out of crazy Native Americans. In LA during heat waves, chucking Frisbees with Gary Busey and Lethal Weapon. But then they just have them rolling about in the snow in a 12-rated film? Absolute poppycock. This would not and should not happen.

If the Predator can faff about with a bunch of plebs on ice, the Little Mermaid can be black. Fuck the lot of you.
