Movies Movie News and Notes

Neve Campbell is about to turn 51, and returning after Scream 5 basically was passing the torch to Melissa Barrea and Jenna Ortega is evidence they've completely ran out of ideas.

Thought Scream 6 was actually pretty great, until the last two minutes when its revealed a few characters we thought were killed off were like "I'm alive! They thought they killed me but I played dead after a few superficial stabs."
And that's after they brought back Hayden Panettierie after she was clearly killed off in Scream 4.

Its bizarre the Scream series is becoming the parody of itself after originally intended to be a parody of horror films.

Time is a flat circle

Its more like 'Hollywood likes repeating the same shit as long as it makes money.'

See the recent Halloween trilogy with Jamie Lee Curtis returning for a fifth, sixth, and seventh time.

It’s more about the producers not having a choice.

They threw a temper tantrum when one of the new stars of the franchise expressed a political opinion they didn’t liked and fired her. The other one quit in support, and when they backtracked and tried to get them back they both said no.

Them going to Neve (who didn’t appear in the last movie because the producers didn’t want to pay her) is sheer desperation.

You're right.
The producers did have a choice.
They chose to fire the 'reboot' main actress, and the even bigger co-main actress quit.

Now its not like fans are clawing up the walls for a new Scream movie. There's been two within a remarkably short timeframe over the last few years. They could have let the situation blow over and let cooler heads prevail.

But nope, that didn't happen.
Pretty ironic that with the new generation of actors in movies basically have to have a second career as activists publically proclaiming their support for (A), (B), & (C)... and Hollywood producers are always fine with that, until..... whoops, you proclaimed your support for (D) and now you've been blacklisted.

{<diva}

And for the record, I'm as pro-Israel & anti-Palestine as it get, but I have no problem with any actor or actress publicly proclaiming their support for the vast majority of possibilities.
But when it begins to effect their work & final cuts of the movies... thats when I get annoyed.

Anyone following the 'controversy' with the Wicked movie poster?

Seems crazy this lady doesn't have a clause in her contract not to do shit like those after the Little Mermaid and Snow White shit.

British actress Cynthia Erivo has hit out at a fan who digitally altered her image from the Wicked film poster, calling it “offensive” and “deeply hurtful”.

Erivo, who stars as Elphaba (who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West) in the upcoming adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical, can be seen on the poster alongside Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda. Much like in the iconic stage play advertisement, Glinda is whispering to Elphaba. However, instead of smirking with her eyes covered by her black hat, the future wicked witch looks ahead.

One fan took it upon themselves to make the film poster more like the original stage show’s, a move Erivo described as the “wildest, most offensive thing I have seen.”

What a dumbass.

First look at Sydney Sweeney in character filming the Christy Martin biopic:

she should stop making movies like this. she's got time after 35.
now it's tits movies time for her.
don't waste that time like daddario did. you're not there to "act".

What a dumbass.
i agree that Evrio is way out of line & making something out of nothing w/ her anger here. it’s literally a fan-made poster meant to replicate the cover of the book. nothing less, nothing more. apparently, Evrio is notoriously “bad” at social media & is no stranger to impulsively saying stupid shit on it. she’s gonna wanna hire someone to run her socials asap if she intends to keep getting high profile roles in this industry.

Bad publicity is good publicity, or something <seedat>

Tom Holland to Star in Christopher Nolan's Latest Film from Universal with July 17, 2026 Release Date

Tom Holland will star in Christopher Nolan's latest feature, joining Matt Damon in the top secret venture. Nolan wrote the script and is directing the project, which Universal Pictures will distribute. The studio has set a release date of July 17, 2026.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say the setting is not present day (although it’s unclear whether it’s set in the past or the future). Nolan is producing alongside producing partner and wife Emma Thomas for their Syncopy banner.

The new feature reunites Nolan with the studio that made his drama Oppenheimer and propelled him to his first Oscars. He won best director and got a best picture statue as producer on the film, which earned a staggering $976 million worldwide.

Oppenheimer was the first time the filmmaker worked with Universal, a relationship forged after Nolan publicly split with longtime home Warner Bros. in late 2020. While Oppenheimer was picked up by Universal in an open auction setting, this new project ended up going straight to the studio, according to sources.

And while Damon is a part of the Nolan ensemble of players, having worked with the filmmaker for Oppenheimer and 2014’s Interstellar, this will be Holland’s first time with the lauded director.

Holland’s boarding may come with some ripple effects. Sources say that the actor will spend next year juggling this project as well as Spider-Man 4, with a likely stop for Avengers: Doomsday. Spider-Man 4 was delayed enough that Holland’s co-star Zendaya will now be shooting Dune 3 in early 2026 rather than next year.

Not
A
Surprise.

Yeah, that's what I thought. This movie is never coming out.

I suspect that it's going to be announced that Mahershala Ali is moving on soon.

Funny that for all of the talk about diversity in modern Marvel, they killed off T'Challa and flat out refused to produce a Blade movie with Blade as the main character.

Considering T'Challa actually died, maybe they had a good reason to pivot for the second movie. But that's just me.

The studio cynically claimed that they were killing the character out of respect for Chadwick Boseman, which is ridiculous because even his own family says that the character should be recast and that his legacy was more than just Marvel.

In reality, they were actually planning to sideline T'Challa in favor of Shuri before Chadwick died, so it was just a convenient excuse.
