Yes, every once in a while you get a great performance but it never leads anywhere. I don't think hes had even one title shot in 15 years.

But if I'm watching the prelims and a Guida fight comes on?

Yeah, the most "average" fighter ever ties, then wins a belt off of the undefeated champion who was given his own era.

No champion in the 2000s on can qualify as "most average fighter ever" let alone the first to beat an undefeated champ.

Of course people are going to name guys who have wins over top 5 opponents (and have been in the top 5 themselves). Average UFC fighters don't even maintain a top 10 ranking for a long time. They'll spend a lot of time unranked too.

This is the truth.

The “average” UFC fighter goes 1-2 and gets cut and no one remembers their name.

Jeremy Stephens lost his first UFC bout to Din Thomas back at UFC 71 in 2007. His record fell to 12-2. Since then he has 16 wins, 16 losses, and 1 NC for a perfect .500 over the past 14 years. His UFC record is 15-17.

Yeah, his record is outstandingly average, but his resume is full of good names. He's beaten some solid fighters, but he loses to the top guys. His win streak over Doo Ho Choi, Emmet, and Melendez was probably his best year.

Pretty crazy considering he's the hardest hitting 145'er in the UFC.

Shit i just realized from the last card for how long caceres has been in the ufc. Is he the definition of the most average fighter ever in the ufc? I don't know if he ever cracked the top 10 but he wins just enough to keep his job and is in the company for a while now.

Is there a more average fighter in the roster? Who is it?

According to the people that hate them, GSP, Anderson, and Jones are overrated guys who ducked fighting anyone good. That probably qualifies them as being average.
