According to the TS Trump helps the farmers which is obviously the worst thing he could possibly do, therefore we should let Democrats destroy America the same way they've destroyed their blue cities. We should let Americas competitors and enemies win. We should give the country away to criminal aliens and people that mean us harm.

Because that is better than Trump helping the farmers and sorting out foreigners taking advantage of us.

Before Trump, the average EU tariff on American imports was like 1.5%. Most of our exports were duty free or faced a tariff around 1%.
Ag was higher (13%-ish), and that’s not a big deal. It’s perfectly normal and reasonable for countries (whether it be the US or European countries) to try and protect their own farmers with a modest tariff.

The main points here with Trump are:

• Having a trade deficit with a country does not mean they are taking advantage of us
• Instead of trying to close those deficits by working to boost US exports, Trump is hampering efforts that boost US exports and trying to artificially close the trade deficit gaps by (illegally) taxing American businesses and American consumers, and that isn’t viable.
• Trying to close those deficits with tariffs makes even less sense when large portions of tariff revenue just have to be handed to farmers who are crippled by the same dumb policies.
• They make yet less sense when overall budget spending is astronomically in the red under this administration.

And all of the things I just listed should be obvious to you because Trump tried the same dumb shit last term with the same shitty results.

Tariffs are the reason farmer's need bailed out.

Perhaps farmers (and yourself) may want to rethink the fervor with which they support someone who continues to unilaterally implement policies that hurt their interests.

The tarriffs Trump has enacted are objectively bad for his constituents. That is the one and only point here, other than the ridiculous statement that it will take one billion dollars to firgure out why farmers face such dire circumstances.
