Economy More socialism for farmers

"Rollins put the immediate value of the program at $11 billion — money that the White House said will offer one-time payments to row-crop farmers. Another $1 billion will be put aside for specialty crops as the administration works to better understand the circumstances for those farmers, Rollins said. The aid will move by the end of February, she said."

They're going to spend a billion dollars to determine the tarriffs are the cause of their struggles? Funny shit.

Are you against farming subsidies? Or bail outs?

Spare me. You read what I wrote and you immediately presumed the agricultural subsidies were derived from tariff revenue based on a false inference you drew from my comment. They are not. You enjoy no room to wax condescending, here, dumbass.

Trump is NOT directly redirecting tariff funding. The USDA funds are drawn from preexisting government coffers. It may be how Trump is framing it, it may be how I am framing it, and it may be how the press accepts to frame it, but it's not the logistics of how the funding is happening. Do you understand that?

Trump is tying the relief to estimates of cost increases to farmers based on tariff impact. But the funds themselves are tapped via the Community Credit Corporation within the Department of Agriculture. The person who is going to sign this aid package is going to be Brooke Rollins who will be coordinating her authority according to the will of President Trump, but this is still under her authority as she is the sitting chairperson on the Board of Directors of this program according to her position as head of the larger Department itself:

Again you literally said he’s using 80% of tarriff revenue for the bail out …you said that but then looked all this stuff up and corrected yourself so there’s no need to keep circle jerking here and trying to make me understand anything bc you got it wrong .

( nearly the entirety of the tariff surplus (which is really just a glorified consumer tax of the American people in the first place) is funding these handouts. )

You completely contradicted yourself now bc you had to ,now your telling me he’s not using Tarriffs when you claimed right above he is .

“ the aid uses pre-existing statutory authority (the CCC) but is ultimately funded by general tax revenue and U.S. debt, not a dedicated "coffer" of tariff money “

This also shows your coffer you looked up isn’t exactly true either .

The amount of jargon you guys have to consistently do and run through hoops is mind boggling to redirect claims on here about Trumps.

The end .

According to the TS Trump helps the farmers which is obviously the worst thing he could possibly do, therefore we should let Democrats destroy America the same way they've destroyed their blue cities. We should let Americas competitors and enemies win. We should give the country away to criminal aliens and people that mean us harm.

Because that is better than Trump helping the farmers and sorting out foreigners taking advantage of us.

What a genius.

Socialism does work when it's being funded by people working their arses off in a capitalist system........ Come to the UK this place is literally flourishing..... They've figured it out!!! You can tax your way to prosperity!!!! It's true !!! There's this bottomless pity of money they've found..... It's called a financial black hole they're always talking about it and it keeps getting bigger...... Just a silly question, what does this mean - in front of a number?

Are you claiming UK is a socialist country?

Trump’s whole spiel about trade deficits meaning that foreigners are taking advantage of us is laughably stupid garbage.
We told you way back in 2016 that his tariffs aren’t going to bring manufacturing back, aren’t going to result in significantly better trade deals, and are just going to cripple farmers, cost Americans money for no reason and make prices higher—and we were completely correct.

When Orange Dipshit ran again in 2024 on the platform of even higher tariffs, we told you all of this same shit again, and we’ve been proven right again. Seriously, what is it going to take for you to admit the guy’s policies are massive failures?

First, the fact that I acknowledged tariffs are a glorified consumer tax of the American people themselves should have tipped the hat that I'm not generally disputing Hockey's characterization of this aid package as "socialism", or that it is technically tax revenue. After all, virtually any money dispensed by the federal government is ultimately drawn from tax revenue; that is the source of almost all its income. However, I was gently pushing back against this 'socialist' portrayal, particularly in the context of his dog whistle "my taxes", as I've already clarified, since the cause of government intervention in the market (i.e. farmer aid) was originally government intervention in the market in the first place (i.e. tariffs) .

Second, while we all accept that tariffs are a glorified tax of the American people, they are technically a tax on the traders importing the goods. They raise prices to pass this onto consumers, but this is not a tax of the American people themselves, directly.

Third, and finally, if you presume to lecture someone about "tariffs", the first thing you should do is learn how to spell the fucking word. No, don't try to play the 'muh typo' evasion. You misspelled it twice the same way in this single post. The only times it is spelled correctly was in your copy-paste of what I wrote, and the copy-paste of what you extracted from the article.

You blathering nitwit.

Watch it's definitely going over 1 Billion......... Sorry from a general observation they're culture don't seem to do much apart from whatever they've got up too, same situation in the UK......
OK, say it's over $1B (Who know?), your original claim was $8B. It was a pretty dishonest statement. Scapegoating immigrants while the wealthy buy our politicians to get bailouts, tax cuts, and corporate welfare gets so tiring. What a few Somalians committed in fraud pales in comparison. Your anger is misplaced.

I'm against dumb and illegal tarriffs that lead to the need for such actions. What's going to happen when there's a massive drought--an example of when financial help for famers may be warranted, but the coffers are empty because they've already paid out for this situation?

That's a lot of words just to say you don't know what you're talking about.

That's because Somalia is another country and it's easy to scapegoat people from another country. These people won't besmirch their own countrymen... unless they're a democrat.
Or a Republican who turned on Trump
Or a different color
Or a different religion
Or born in a northern state
Or drive a Subaru
Or have clubbed feet
Or disabilities in general
Or from California
Or a woman
Or poor

But aside from those, and likely more, they wouldn't sully the name of their own. It's easier to blame immigrants.

Shame these cultures don't share your values and they actually see you as a "useful idiot", to be used and exploited this isn't a zero sum game I can also have something to say about fraud and corruption at a higher level, Somalians operate in strict clan based structures with clans fighting each other all the time......

Somalia isn't a proper country and it's just a bunch of powerful clans operating in the area....... If you want to help the region you might think about supporting their neighbours Somaliland because they've got a proper structure......

Remember I said about spiral theory, these clan structures don't fit in to the cultural models of the US and they will not integrate, it's very rare for them to marry outwards and if they do they're mostly like to be ejected from their clan, in breeding is very normal.......

Somalians don't even mix with other Muslims either.........

If you want social harmony these people don't mix or will they ever mix, they hold no allegiance to the country they reside in only to their clan.........they don't even hold allegiance to the country they've originally come from...... Somalia, it's all about the clan......

A nation should be able to feed its own people if possible, just like they should be able to produce they're own steel ........ Things like these are very important.

And a nation should resist large Global corporations holding too much power over them.

There's lots wrong in the world and we need to come up with a better way, instead of falling back on system that have caused death and destruction and or financial enslavement.

In what way is this relevant to your leap to ask me if I'm against bail outs when my comment was about them saying they'll spend a billion dollars to teach themselves it's Trump and his stupid tarriffs causing financial problems for farmers?

Are you claiming UK is a socialist country?

It's definitely trying to be pushed in that direction............. It's literally the Tony Blair show again, Starmer is a meat puppet........ David Cameron was a Globalist shill.........

this guy's vote counts the same as yours. think about that

Do you dislike Tariffs or Trump? Or both?

Are you saying Tariffs have no place?

The EU have operated farming tariffs for as long as I can remember, don't see anyone jumping up down about those protective tariffs they've got in place?

As for subsidies, just look at EU farming subsidies......
