Montana Sen. Steve Daines is being mocked for reminiscing about “homemade” methamphetamines while discussing the immigration crisis.

“Twenty years ago in Montana, meth was homemade. It was homegrown,” the Republican congressman said at the border Friday.
“And you had purity levels less than 30 percent. Today the meth that is getting into Montana is Mexican cartel. It has purities north of 95 percent. Far more dangerous, far more addictive, and it’s less expensive.”

So Meth was ok back then because it was homemade and 30% purity? It was addicting but not as addicting as today? Why even bring this up at all if Meth from Mexico with 95% is the problem? That alone should be enough of an argument.

It's not a poison, and yes if you're making a product with the intent of that product being to get you high then one of 95% purity is far better than 30% purity. The one with 30% purity is far more likely to cause issues than 95% purity.
