News Monster Inoue vs Ye Joom Kim - January 24th Japan

I'm kind of surprised he even made it to the 4th round. Kim had never been stopped as a pro but we knew going in that this was a gross mismatch. He's not a world level opponent.

Kim’s a lot better than expected
Kim did better than expected because Inoue didn't blast him from the 1st round. It looked like he was going a bit easy on Kim until he decided to end it. Inoue never looked remotely threatened and seemed like he could end the fight literally whenever he wanted.

Yeah as expected it was a squash match.
But Inoue even makes those into a highlight. That one-two he hit Kim with almost knocked him clear out of the ring.

Hoping either Picasso or MJ next. After those two it would be great to see him vs Nakatani.

is he, really?

i mean he could be really good, but he didn't show it in this fight.
Keep in mind I wrote that about a round or two before the KO and he seemed to be in it.

I hadn’t seen a Korean boxer in forever but in my memory they’re usually very similar in style. Brawlers, very little head movement, offense includes ability to take massive punishment.

Kim was methodical nd had good movement. He seemed to have strategy (came out southpaw) and was able to touch Inouye a few times. Then he got melted

It was a brave performance under the circumstance

Help me out dudes cuz it’s been hard sifting for this…..I thought the Goodman fight was a cinch to happen n then my friend told me yesterday it had changed suddsnly

Was Kim in line for this being so lowly ranked? Like HTF?

Or did he just step up and ask for this?

I thought I heard he was already training for a fight and was aware that he would get chosen if needed.

Whatever Kim did it was ballsy

In 13 days he managed to make it tense. They didn’t shake hands before the fight

Zero Fs attitude this dude id never heard of fought like he didn’t know who Naoya was, taunting

That monster 1-2 was INSANE

This fight was as good as we could ever get on a week's notice. I hope Inoue will fight MJ next, or Casimero for fun. After that: Nakatani. Although, I like both and don't want to see either lose there 0. It would obviously sell massively in Japan.

Back in December 15 …..JeJoon Kim’s manager Alatamura had the wherewithal to ask Masa the promoter that JeJoon wanted to be the backup…straight up volunteered.

The promoters at first didn’t give it much thought but shit stared rolling downhill quick

Kim was 7-0 vs Japanese fighters up till Naoya

Really appreciated how cold blooded Kim was during this fight

You really think that a guy who wasn't even rated Top 50 in the world was the best available opponent? A week's notice is more than enough time. Backup opponents are typically selected early. They'll remain on standby and wait for the call to step in if needed. There's really no excuse for Team Inoue not securing a Top 10/15 replacement.

Oh man the comments under that video hurt my brain.
"Why isn't he fighting the top competition in the US"
"Tank would destroy him"
"He's fighting nobodies"
And my favorite: "He's ducking Casimero"

He could beat MJ and Nakatani in Saudi Arabia tomorrow and he'll still get hate from idiots who don't know either of those guys.

I think fans would welcome a fight against MJ but Inoue has 2 future super fights that are south of him (Nakatani at bantam & Bam at super fly). If he beats either one of those guys, say at a catchweight where they meet in the middle, then I think the opposition level complaints will stop. Inoue himself used to fight in those divisions so they can't really use the size excuse against him.

Nah man if he beats Nakatani, the haters will still complain that he's fighting "only" in Japan. He beats Bam in the US and they'll say he's only fighting smaller guys. To be fair most of these people don't even seem to realize boxing has different weight classes. I remember Floyd getting hate because he didn't fight GGG, so I guess it's nothing new.

Inoue hasn't beat anyone until he goes up to SMW and beats Canelo

To that I would say that Inoue's fought outside of Japan before and many other great fighters either didn't travel (ie., Floyd & Andre Ward) or only did it after they were past it (ie., Roy). Bam is fighting at 115 right now but he and Inoue both started at 108 lbs. As I said, they could meet in the middle at a catchweight of 118.5 lbs. Nakatani, despite being at 118 right now, is actually listed as being taller than Inoue and supposedly he has a longer reach. He could either move up to 122 where Inoue's at or they could also meet in the middle at 120 lbs. As for Floyd getting stick for not fighting GGG that's only because Floyd said that he was basic and that he'd be easy work without ever backing it up.
