Modern MMA absolutely sucks

I do miss the freakshow aspect, fighters nowadays are just that good that a lot of the randomness and weaknesses are mitigated. As the sport evolves, it is to be expected. Wish they had more stacked cards, I could do without all the fight nights.

My biggest issue is all the fighters now grew up in MMA. Most didn't start kickboxing or BJJ and adding other skills later in life. They are all practically cookie cutter fighters of each other.

I liked it when Chuck would have to fight Babalu. Or Anderson fight Maia. Gives us some styles. Too many fighters in the org., too many watered down cards, no variety.

I don't need to see Kron though ;)

I remember around 2011/2012 a friend of mine said MMA was getting boring because everyone was getting so well rounded that the matchups weren't as interesting anymore. No more style matchups. That didn't really age well IMO. Yes, people are becoming much more well rounded but there are still style matchups, even this day in age. MMA doesn't suck, it's better now than ever. If you think it does, then you do you and stop watching it?

IMO MMA used to be this crazy exotic thing that you looked forward to watching. Now with everyone being so skilled, it is a very sterile experience. The fighters are better, but they also need to play it safe to keep a win streak going which can result in a boring match. If we brought back PRIDE rules, and maybe gave fighters job security for putting on a show versus just trying to win. Just some thoughts.

It used to be exotic now it's a mainstream sport. Rarely in sports do you find a team or person wanting to put on a show instead of winning. PRIDE rules are a thing of the past but even then you had people like Aarona who was still "boring". There are always going to be boring fighters and exciting fighters. It's not always the fighters trying to keep their streak going that makes a fighter boring, its often their style and how they match up against their opponent. Some fighters are never boring, Gaethje? I disagree with it being sterile. I think MMA is by far the best sport in the world and the UFC offers the best product. I guess theatrics and all that are good but I'm more concerned with the fights. How sterile do you think Poirier vs Gaethje 2 is going to be? I think if you really look at the UFC cards, most of the fighters are going to be good and exciting. Sure, there will be boring fights here and there and some that are just there to win and keep their streak going so they play it safe but if a card has 12 fights and only 2 are boring then I just think you're being picky and are spoiled at this point.

One part that I really despise is every time that Twitter messages pop up on my screen.

I never give a damn what anyone has to say about these assassins and their MMA fights.

I barely care about what Joe Rogan, Cormier, and the rest of them have to say about assassins that are in the UFC.
This 100%. One of the most annoying things they can do during a live broadcast. Share the thoughts of some loser ass MMA "journalist" and their mainstream/noob takes that have no basis in the history, or real perspective of MMA. That shit is infuriating.

It really is mind bending to think about. People that claim to love the sport the most come to this forum solely dedicated to the sport and end up debating about who hates it more and labeling anyone that likes it a disgusting casual or shill working for the company. When I go out to live events or even bars it is the complete opposite, everyone is just excited to watch the fights and have a good time with others excited to watch the fights. No one ever talks about how much Dana has taken from them or their fight for justice over fighter pay.
no one's shitting on the sport of MMA. we are shitting on the modern UFC, the modern shitty cards, and what WME UFC is doing. and as fans since the very early days, we have every right to.

Love seeing this threads since I get a chance to add more people to my ignore list.Welcome, TS!

If you don't like MMA, or the UFC, anymore, kindly fuck off. No one wants to hear you complain. Just suck it up and move on, find something more productive to do with your time instead of whining about it on an internet forum
says the guy who clicks on the thread, reads it, writes a comment, as if that is more productive. take your own advice.

I think it's that the UFC is lacking stars. I mean, you got some great fighters for sure, but we're currently missing those Era defining superstars. That aura of invincibility that some dudes had: GSP, Silva, Khabib, Fedor, and even McGregor for a time, just to name a few. The only dude who might have that right now is Jones, but he looked like shit in his last few LHW fights, and I think we're all kinda wary to get our hopes up about his future after a long layoff and one win against a dude that he had a massive stylistic advantage against.

Woah you've been watching from the early days! You are the coolest. I just started watching yesterday and can't wait to keep watching until I hate it as much as you.

sounds like you're offended for the UFC. and your offense doesn't negate what everyone is saying. weak cards, weak product, weak fighters as of late.
