First Look at Katherine Waterston in Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT

20th Century Fox has released a new video village set photo from Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant featuring our first look at Katherine Waterston’s lead explorer character Daniels and the caption “Nowhere to run.” Also starring Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Demian Bechir and Billy Crudup, Alien: Covenant opens August 4, 2017.

Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. Dwayne Johnson to Star in SKYSCRAPER Described as "DIE HARD in China" [Updated]

Dwayne-Johnson-Fast-Five-Dragonlord-1.jpg

There’s an action pitch that Rawson Marshall Thurber is writing and will direct that is generating a serious bidding war, with multiple seven-figure offers on the table. Dwayne Johnson is attached to star in the project, which is being described as a Die Hard in China-type star vehicle for The Rock, where it becomes one man against extraordinary circumstances and is set in the Middle Kingdom. Beau Flynn is the producer.

Legendary and Universal have made a seven-figure offer, Deadline is hearing, as have Sony and Paramount. New Line is also circling this. It’s very possible that this auction will be concluded by the holiday, probably by tomorrow. The bidding becomes another recent example where studios are really willing to step up for the right package.

Thurber (Dodgeball, We’re The Millers) and Johnson just teamed on New Line’s buddy comedy Central Intelligence co-starring Kevin Hart which comes out June 17. Flynn and The Rock have worked together several times including on 2014’s Hercules, last year’s big summer actioner San Andreas and currently on the Baywatch redo.

[Update: In a major seven-figure deal, Legendary has won the furious bidding war for the China-set action movie Skyscraper that has Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson attached to star.]

Jamie Bell Reportedly in Talks with BOND Producer to Play 007

Jamie-Bell-6-Days-Dragonlord.jpg

He got his big break as unlikely ballet dancer Billy Elliot. And 16 years on, Jamie Bell's career could be heading in an entirely new direction as a new report claims the British actor is in talks to replace Daniel Craig in the James Bond franchise.

Jamie, 30, has met with Bond boss Barbara Broccoli and producers to discuss the coveted part, according to The Sun. [Deadline has also confirmed that talks between Bell and Broccoli are true.]

Broccoli, who has been producing the Bond films for twenty years, is behind Jamie's new movie Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool, and is said to have been impressed with his skills.

'Barbara has been a fan of Jamie for a long time and has even thought about him playing another role in the franchise before,' an insider has told The Sun. 'Everyone remembers Jamie as the little boy in Billy Elliot, but he's now got some serious roles under his belt.'

From ballet to Bond? Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell 'in talks with producers to replace Daniel Craig as 007'

Comments: I'm a fan of the actor. His AMC show Turn: Washington Spies is criminally underseen by the public. The problem is he's a bit short for the role. He's 5'7" but still looks shorter on screen.

For those who didn't know this, he was once married to Evan Rachel Wood. He's currently dating his Fantastic Four co-star Kate Mara.

Jake Gyllenhaal Reteam with PRISONERS Director Denis Villeneuve for THE SON

Prisoners-Set-Gyllenhaal-Villeneuve-Dragonlord.jpg

Jake Gyllenhaal is reteaming with filmmaker Denis Villeneuve — having starred in the director’s Enemy and Prisoners — to bring Jo Nesbo’s crime novel The Son to the big screen.

Written by the noted Scandinavian author, The Son tells the story of Sonny Lofthus, a once-gifted 15-year-old and promising wrestler, whose life enters a downward spiral when his cop father commits suicide. After spending 12 years in prison, Sonny escapes when he learns the truth of his father’s death and begins hunting down the people responsible for his wrongful sentence.

Nine Stories, Gyllenhaal's new production company, recently completed principal photography on its first feature with Bold, David Gordon Green's Stronger, in which Gyllenhaal stars as a working-class Boston man caught up in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. Lionsgate will release the picnext year.

Gyllenhaal will next be seen in Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals, which is set to be released in November. Villeneuve currently is in postproduction on Story of Your Life, with Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams, and will soon begin production on the new Blade Runner project starring Harrison Ford.

Daniel Craig, Katherine Heigl Joins Steven Soderbergh's Heist Comedy LOGAN LUCKY

Daniel-Craig-Katherine-Heigl-Dragonlord.jpg

Daniel Craig and Katherine Heigl are the latest to join Steven Soderbergh's hillbilly heist comedy Logan Lucky, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Heigl is attached, sources say, and Craig has an offer, with negotiations expected to commence shortly.

The film, which was being shopped as a hot package in Cannes, stars Channing Tatum and Michael Shannon and boasts Adam Driver, Riley Keough and Seth MacFarlane in supporting roles.

Soderbergh, who hasn't helmed a movie since 2013's medical thriller Side Effects and vowed that he was retired from film, is making the switch back to the big screen with Logan Lucky.

Tatum and Shannon will play brothers who plan a heist during a high-profile NASCAR race. Production is scheduled to begin in the fall.

Craig is not expected to return to the James Bond franchise, and a supporting role in a Soderbergh film might seem an unconventional choice. But the director is never at a loss when it comes to luring major talent.

Heigl once had one of the hottest film careers in Hollywood after her star turn in 2007's Knocked Up, but it has cooled significantly in recent years. Landing a lead female role in Logan Lucky would give her big-screen career a jolt.

New Trailer for THE LITTLE PRINCE with Netflix Release Date

Little-Prince-052616-Dragonlord.jpg

Despite being a critically well-regarded international hit with a recognizable line-up of voice talent that took home the Best Animated Feature Film trophy at the César Awards, earlier this year, The Little Prince has hit a few speed bumps on its way to American theaters.

Originally scheduled for release on March 18, 2016, Paramount abruptly pulled the film from its schedule on March 11, with no explanation given. Netflix, with its seemingly bottomless bag of “Screw You, We’re Netflix” money, swooped in and rescued director Mark Osborne‘s film. Now, the streaming service has unveiled a new The Little Prince trailer along with a release date on August 5, 2016.

The Little Prince is a loose adaptation of the 1943 novella by writer and illustrator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, which has sold over 140 million copies in 250 languages since its initial publication. The film version takes the plot of the book – a stranded aviator encounters a young boy who claims to have journeyed from his home on a distant asteroid – and weaves it into a larger plot about a modern girl befriending her elderly neighbor and escaping her overbearing mother while surely learning a valuable life lesson or two.

Walt Disney Pictures Developing DELILAH DIRK Live-Action Movie

Walt-Disney-Delilah-Dirk-Dragonlord.jpg

Disney has acquired feature film rights to the graphic novel series Delilah Dirk And The Turkish Lieutenant from author Tony Cliff. The literary property, which is an action adventure tale set in the early 19th century, was first published by First Second Books. The story follows Delilah, described as a female Indiana Jones, as she wields her sword (trained in 47 sword-fighting techniques) and battles pirates and escapes on her flying boat while seeking adventures around the globe.

The studio is developing a live-action film with producers Roy Lee (Vertigo) and Mark Mower and Justin Giritlian (who secured the rights through their company Recursion Media). Miri Yoon is shepherding for Vertigo and Tendo Nagenda and Chaz Salembier are overseeing for Disney.

For Disney, it seems a no-brainer as it encompasses female empowerment at its best for a worldwide moviegoing audience. Clearly the studio is hoping for a franchise with a female hero — and there is the diversity angle as well as it has a multi-ethnic cast (although Disney has been better than most in that regard, especially with its animated films).

In the novel, which will be adapted for the screen — they are currently looking for writers — the female swashbuckler escapes a Turkish prison and as she does befriends a mild-mannered officer named Selim who becomes her sidekick. The book became a New York Times bestseller in 2013 and was named both A Publishers Weekly Best Children’s Book of 2013 as well as the Best Teen Book of 2013 by Kirkus Reviews.

Lionsgate Could Possibly Make Up to Seven More POWER RANGERS Movies

Lionsgate-Power-Rangers-052616-Dragonlord.jpg

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said the studio may make as many as seven more Power Rangers movies, underlining the company’s bullishness over the upcoming film.

“We are really, really excited about the Power Rangers movie,” Feltheimer said during a conference call Thursday with analysts. “We could see doing five or six or seven.”

The CEO cited the positive reaction to the costume reveal as evidence of audience interest. The suits consist of translucent armor that crystallizes around the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ bodies.

The studio has tapped Dean Israelite to direct the film and has cast five young actors to star — Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger. Elizabeth Banks will play the evil alien witch Rita Repulsa.

Power Rangers will hits theaters on March 24. The story reimagines the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids given extraterrestrial powers who unite to save the world.

Rosa Salazar Cast as the Lead in James Cameron's ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL

Rosa-Salazar-Battle-Angel-Alita-052716-Dragonlord.jpg

James Cameron handed over Alita: Battle Angel directing duties to Robert Rodriguez last year and the filmmakers set out to find the right young woman to lead the film. Last month, news broke that the search had narrowed down to three candidates — including It Follows star Maika Monroe, Disney sensation Zendaya, and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials standout Rosa Salazar. Today, Collider is reporting that Salazar has landed the coveted role.

Based on the manga series by Yukito Kishiro, Battle Angel takes place in the 26th century and tells the story of an amnesiac female cyborg who is rescued from a scrapyard by a doctor, rebuilt with no memory of her previous life excepting her kickass martial arts skills, and becomes a bounty hunter tracking down vicious criminals.

Salazar has a pretty impressive resume for an up-and-coming actress, especially for only having been on the scene for the last five years, and after a notable turns in Insurgent, The Scorch Trials, and the wonderful FX comedy Man Seeking Woman she’s become a name to watch. Now, she’s landed what could be her breakout role.

Cameron hand-picked Rodriguez for to take over at the helm of his long-time passion project, and Rodriguez is said to be working from Cameron’s script, though he’s likely to take a pass at it and punch it up with his own style. No word yet on a production timeline for the long-developed adaptation.

Tom Hiddleston Reportedly in Advanced Talks to Play James Bond

Tom-Hiddleston-052716-Dragonlord.jpg

Sources close to Tom Hiddleston have told Birth.Movies.Death. that Tom Hiddleston is in fact in advanced talks to take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig.

Choosing words carefully, BMD's source confirms that while talks have indeed taken place, and that Hiddleston very much wants the job (a fact of which he’s made no secret), no official offer has been made - yet.

There are a couple ways to parse this news. One is to take it at face value: Daniel Craig is out, the role of 007 is open, and it may very well be Hiddleston’s for the taking. Another is to apply the lessons Vincent Chase and Ari Gold taught us back on Entourage: Eon might be talking to other actors in an attempt to catalyze a response from Craig. If it’s the latter, c'est la guerre. If it’s the former, BMD's source is for the first time confirming what’s been, until now, nothing but tabloid rumor-mongering.

It’s also worth noting that if cast, Hiddleston would be the first Bond actor who shares an educational background with both the literary 007 and Ian Fleming himself: all three attended Eton College in their respective youths.

Exclusive: Tom Hiddleston Confirmed to Be in Talks for BOND 25

Comments: Those that immediately dismiss Hiddleston due to the fact that he played Loki should watch the actor in The Night Manager or High-Rise.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer Says They Could Make Up to Seven More ‘Power Rangers’ Movies

If they can do Daredevil type fight scenes on foot and Pacific Rim style fight scenes in their dinozords, I am all for them making 7 movies. They have not been able to successfully capture the Power ranger universe yet in anything else they have tried, hell, not even in their shows anymore. I don't know if it is just nostalgia talking, but I tried watching the show with anything other than the original cast (Tommy is original IMO) and it blew MAJOR chunks.

I am SORT OF excited to see this movie, but that's a bold statement they made. Luckily they said "could see", because I have doubts about this. I will reserve judgment until the trailers though I guess.

Ghostbusters looks pretty funny but Im disappointed cause I thought it wasnt a remake

First Trailer for Todd Solondz’s Dark Comedy WIENER-DOG

Wiener-Dog-052716-Dragonlord.jpg

Amazon Studios and IFC Films have unveiled the first trailer for Wiener-Dog, the dark comedy from writer-director Todd Solondz (king of the darkest comedies) about a single dog and the eclectic bunch of people she touches in her short lifetime.

This trailer looks dangerously like your standard quirky comedy, so audiences who aren’t familiar with Solondz’s work might be in for a bit of a gut-punch, but it also looks pretty damn excellent and a bit more playful than the director’s previous films. As usual, he’s assembled a tremendous ensemble cast to carry that unique tone.

Wiener-Dog stars Greta Gerwig, Ellen Burstyn, Kieran Culkin, Julie Delpy, Danny DeVito, Tracy Letts, and Zosia Mamet and arrives in theaters on June 24th.

Crush the Skull ~ Best low budget movie of the year. I know the whole robbers trapped in a serial killers house may seem a bit washed out but this movie was superbly done and the comedy filtered throughout this horror/thriller makes a nice fit.

I won't spoil anything but besides one character who has a very brief part the entire cast had great chemistry and amazing chops. This movie could have come out in theaters and I doubt many would complain.

It's not often that I sit through a B movie and not wish it was over actually or want to see more from the guy who wrote and directed it but I actually do.

So if you're bored one night and see this around, be sure to pick it up.

The movie is the culmination of a short written by the director and the main actor 5 years ago that they've been polishing up. The release says 2015 but like most b movies it only popped up on this pirates radar in the past few weeks. I've since purchased it through a legit source to pay it forward so to speak.

I might even watch Bond if Jamie Bell is in it. I've enjoyed him in every role I've seen of his. Usually he's a side character but I'd appreciate him in a decent main role. (Was solid in Snowpiercer, Defiant)
Brooding actors are my favorite.

34q8bv8.jpg

The cast of Fast & Furious 8 is back on set together for the first time, and the group looks pretty happy to be reunited.

In a new set video of the cast, actors Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, Scott Eastwood (playing a protegee of Russell), and Jason Statham can all be seen have a great time, but even that star-studded group doesn't contain the whole cast.

Missing from the set is new addition Charlize Theron and returning cast members Lucas Black and Eva Mendes, though Mendes isn't official for the film just quite yet. Kristofer Hivju (Tormund from Game of Thrones) will play one of Charlize Theron's henchmen. Fast & Furious 8 will hit theatres on April 14th, 2017.
