No, it isn't bullshit. Khabib made 6-10 mil for that fight. He (and all the other fighters on the card) would have made 3x or more if UFC fighters got 40% of the profit instead of less than 10%.

If MMA existed at the same day that boxing was invented there would be no boxing. Boxers were championed as fighters when they werent. And, were slowly learning that they arent fighters theyre just punchers.

Point being MMA would have eaten boxing back then and will eat it soon enough now.

MMA has existed since the original Olympics in Ancient Greece where it was the most popular and prestigious event. MMA is still growing in popularity in the modern era, and will continue to grow. Boxing also isn't going anywhere.

Yup. Within 2 years after CTE is cured, all Combat Sports will EXPLODE in popularity, as the main disincentive for young athletes to pursue it no longer exists. And everyone, literally everyone, already knows that the heavyweight champion is the top athlete on the planet and that fighters are intrinsically more respectable than guys who play other sports.

I don't think it will ever surpass soccer but this weird idea that MMA is "niche" and "not growing" is objectively false and time will only make it more popular. Humans innately like combat and fighting, we are biologically drawn to violence and watching males dominate each other it is literally part of our innate psychology.

The only reason MMA fighters don't make as much money as boxers is because MMA isn't regulated under the Ali Act.

If/when it does become regulated under the act, MMA fighters will make as much as boxers, if not more (as MMA is growing beyond boxing in popularity). Khabib made 6 million vs Poirier. If MMA was under the Ali act, he'd make over 15 million for that fight.

In fact, the average boxer doesn't make as much as the average MMA fighter, and if MMA were under the Ali act, the average MMA fighter would end up making several hundred thousands dollars a year. The top of the heap guys would make tens of millions of dollars a year. And this is assuming no growth in viewership. If there is growth (which there will be) it would go up even higher.
