Miocic's resume is overrated

DC was in prime form. Stipe knew how to win. I think the other guys underestimated him. I think if he opened up more and threw more, he would have tagged Jones.

Are we gonna really criticize Stipes resume for beating older fighters when Francis beat washed JDS after Stipe beat him, Cain way out of his prime right before he retired, Overeem even later than Stipe beat him, Arlovski who was way beyond it, again even later than Stipe beat him. And his best win is Stipe at 40 years old.

Ngannou beat the same guys in Arlovksi, JDS, Overeem, that Stipe beat, excecpt he did it later when they were even older.

I think you indirectly showed that Ngannous resume is even worse cause of this.

I was never a huge fan of Stipe, but I thought he was a good athletic HW who was never really the best technically. He greatly benefitted from the timing of his career and being just a tad bit younger and quicker than the last crop of Heavyweight legends

Yeah that's the truth. Stipe may be the goat UFC hw but that's an extremely low bar.
 
UFC HW division has always sucked. Really, to a certain extent, all HW divisions, but Pride Affliction/Strikeforce when co-existing were always better.

So, really, no HW division champ's resume, ever, is going to be impressive.

But, compared to other HW champs? Stipe's a legit as anyone else.
 
I put it as a 3-way race between Werdum, Cain, and Stipe.

I believe Werdum was for a few years the best HW the UFC has ever had. He really fucked up in that fight against Stipe with the world's worst tactics. Super amateur to charge Stipe and get knocked out, and I honestly think he was the best UFC HW at the time. He had reached a point where he finally peaked in his mid-thirties because he added good striking to his BJJ. The problem is- his peak didn't last long, and he wrecked this portion of his career with the stupid charging of Stipe.

The second best is Cain, but he has the same problem- his peak didn't last long.

Third is Stipe at his peak.

This is not accurate. Stipe has a shit ton of good wins. Dc twice is as good as any hw 2 wins ever. Dc would fuck up any pride hw not named fedor. Not to mention beat Francis what are we even talking about right now
