Crime Millennial Couple Bikes Through Tajikistan Posts ‘Humans Are Kind’...They Were Killed

We've been at war in Afghanistan for 17 years and the Taliban still controls almost 45% of the country....

Not remotely surprising given it's history.

Their last thoughts as their throats were slit was probably about how white people were responsible.

I'm talking specifically ISIS more so. The Taliban actually are semi organized and shit by comparison from what I know.

There’s also a big difference between “group that had a spine” and “greatest military force in human history”

Even though I’ve been around, this isn’t a traveler’s dick measuring contest.

It was about you painting the world with broad strokes.

You would have been better off just taking the L when you thought Tajikistan was in the Middle East but you had to go and follow it up with yet another ignorant comment.

One of the biggest stereotypes about Americans is that they don’t know shit about the rest of the world. And if you don’t care to know, that’s fine. Just don’t go spouting bullshit to prove a non-existent political point.

It borders Afghanistan and they were killed where? It’s a wonderful place though. You should move there.

I’m probably way off. Wonder what the state department says

Seems like a lot of American conservatives here are extremely insular.
Strange, because most of the conservatives (including Americans) I know have travelled extensively outside developed nations and put themselves in much more dangerous environments than cycling the old silk road.

Well, you probably hang around a better-off circle than the rural-forgotten-opiate addicted-never-had-your-passport-stamped conservatives.

Wanting to cycle the old silk road means you can afford a nice road bike, have heard of the silk road, know where Tijikistan is, and can afford air fare to get there. That's likely not the profile of the far-right who are over-joyed that this massacre took place.

So humor me... which predominantly Arab countries have you been to? And which did you find the most tolerable? And why?

Considering the sentiment you seem to espouse, I’m curious as to what redeeming qualities the non-Western world might have to someone like you.

They specifically uprated that warning due to this incident though. Prior to this all the violence in Tajikistan had revolved around the Government/Anti-Government groups (which some journalists also got caught up in) and the usual tribal BS.

I am male
My experience in the Middle East Is going to be tainted by the fact that I’m a male and a A tourist to them.

I try to use talk to text for this but it failed horribly I’ll pick this up later

Even conceding that, you’re nuts to go there

Two easy rules in life
Don’t eat yellow snow
Don’t go anywhere that ends in Stan

Damn, didn't know it was that bad, I knew they were still around and controlled territory but that's a lot more than I figured. But I imagine its the US that controls the major population centers like the cities and the Taliban that control the more desolate, mountainous areas right?

Eh. I know quite a few people that have gone overland from China to the UK (although not actually through Tajikistan, through Kazakhstan and Russia). Biggest concern they had was shitty food and how ridiculously cold it gets.

Lol these are the types of retards going into the US government

Adventurous yet idealistic?

Could do a lot worse, like halfwits that troll karate forums using “retard” as a pejorative to describe the recently deceased.

Lmao. Greatest thing ive read all week. Is it true though? seen so many weird articles on this. Never know in this fake news era.

Wait, I've seen this movie before:

I thought that this story was from that movie with the crazy game of Simon Says.

Not to make light of this (equal parts moronic and horrific) incident, but seriously, did nobody else instantly think of John McClane's suicide trek to Harlem?

"You've made a very bad mistake."

One of my conservative friends shared this story on fb and I laughed out loud.

It’s tragic but I’m sorry talk about being naive. Good lord.

Two sheep goes into the territory of wolves. Lamb chops.

When you stupidly think that vegetarianism and veganism exempts you from that taint of bloodshed, realize that in order to eat the plant, you have to kill it first. It's all the same.

Killing is ingrained in all carbon-based lifeforms on earth. It's our way of life. Ignore that, you easily become fertilizer.

Yeah but for some reason they don’t care about plant life. The “plants know they are being eaten” articles that were coming out a few years ago really highlighted the actual hypocrisy of vegans.

I thought this would be funny, but they were killed in a terror attack. I thought maybe they would've been killed after staying with the wrong host family or going to a country run by a dictatorship or something.

They were literally just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just like the people in Pulse nightclub or Las Vegas, or 9/11.

I don't really see the humor in this. RIP to the couple.

They certainly were in the wrong place, that’s what everyone is saying.

Being killed by random militants in an isis infested shithole isn’t quite the same as being killed while at a nightclub in America, or office buildings in New York.
