News Miesha Tate says that she spent 98% of her return fight purse covering training expenses

With that kind of money I could retire in a couple of years in my country and live like a king

My house is built in 1950. It's a tear down shitty house. Literally our kitchen looks like a crack house.

I have 750k left on a $2,000,000 mortgage.

I DONT EVEN LIVE IN VANCOUVER CITY. I live I a damn suburb.

I'm still confused as to why UFC fighters are taxed so highly. Ain't she married with a kid?

Most of her expenses should be tax deductible, assuming she's filing single?

Melbourne is pretty fucked too for property, Chinese just buy everywhere. Go Canucks
Yeah love the city, love the Canucks.

Always wanted to go to Australlia. So many of your people crowd our ski mountains in the winter. I remember I used to hear some ppl complain because there were so many Aussies on the mountain but not anymore.

Never understood it, Aussies always came here, had fun, were nice and blended in. Can't say that for a lot of people that come here.

200,000, minus taxes. Also you have to pay your corner 25% of your purse(because they have to be reimbursed for all the time they put into you). Now she’s probably down to just over 100,000. Add into that the extra cost of the food and training camp. Oh… and let’s not forget that fighters only fight 2 to 3 times a year(if they stay uninjured). i’m not sure how much money you make but say you train for a fight for six months. Enough money to cover your rent/mortgage, food, day-to-day expenses, transportation, travel, stuff for kids, exactly how much money do you figure that leaves?? I suppose if a fighter doesn’t have any children when decides to live at the gym they can probably keep expenses low, but Miesha is a grown woman with a family. She’s been out of work for over a year. I’m not sure how much money you all make but I know I couldn’t live on that.
she lived in Singapore as an executive for ONE FC and she would not have gone out there to do that if she hadn't been very well paid. She's almost certainly quite reasonably wealthy, I'm just going to guess that she spent too much this time around on some unnecessary stuff and she was fighting a female fighter that's the very definition of a journeyman (9-7-1 before the fight) and had 4 straight losses.
So..... not like a Championship fight!
I'd say Miesha simply needs to cut down on over-the-top coaching costs, her uber-expensive organic food is really not necessary (not saying it's not healthy, sure it is) and also she can write-off an awful lot of her costs as tax-deductible meaning those costs can HEAVILY REDUCE your tax liability if you do it right. Get a good tax accountant, it's not hard, and if she fights 3x per year and makes 600,000 per year (if she wins) then it's definitely worthwhile to get as much of your costs classed as tax-deductible. The tax accountant will tell you what to do.

Mortgage, 2 cars, 3lbs of caviar a night, Netflix. Adds up.

No its basically all mortgage. Vancouver is fucked for real estate because of China laundering money through our real estate.

At 180k I drive a civic and a God damn soy boy grand caravan.
I spent some time traveling in Vancouver area before the WInter Olympics in Whistler and it was fine back then, costs wise. But I heard from many Canadians it's now incredibly expensive, as you say, due to the massive influx of foreign money. I know Canadians who have lived in Van all their lives and they say they have to leave as they cannot afford it anymore. That's ridiculous. Van is a great city, just it's got way too expensive.

Stop buying $18,500 ATVs then

Does she still live in Vegas and could literally just go to the performance institute?
far as I know she trains principally at Xtreme Couture in Vegas. But I could be out of date with that. Sounds to me like she did a lot of 1-on-1 training, maybe at her house, not sure.

So you earn 180k, yet you were able to take out a $2,000,000 mortgage from a bank, to live in a house with a kitchen that looks like a crack house?

<45>Sure pal, keep dreaming.

Varner's not buying it though.

On a side note, it's getting to the point where there could be a broke fighter sub-section of the UFC forum. These stories come out daily.

meh.
It may be true.
She was coming back, so she has been training a lot more than just a training camp.
So I believe she spent in order to get back into shape, etc.
That does not mean it will happen every fight, just this one (that's how I interpreted it).

As for Varner, she is just looking for a fight.

Are Sherdog gonna have a group cry and hug about this one too?

30% is usually just an estimate, not an exact amount. They take that out right away, then tax season comes around and you start getting all your deductions, exemptions, and all the rest back in the form of a refund.

As far as it being a high amount, it does depend on how she's filing. If she's filing singly (and she might despite being married), an annual income of 163K to 207K puts you in that 32% bracket. If she's made more besides that one fight (because income tax is calculated over a calendar year, not per paycheck), that could put her at an even higher rate.

She might have done something like Buys did. Had a ton of expenses to move back to Vegas and put that on her "camp expenses".
Or/and maybe she owes a bunch of back taxes.

I'm with Varner on this one. She spent 190k on her fight camp? WTF

This, shes lying obviously. She just wants attention.

Seen Miesha in person once and she was getting surrounded by some simp fan boys walking with her. You could tell she enjoyed just feeding off all the attention lol.

Surreys nice when I want good Indian food. My buddy just got a place in CHILLIWACK for 1.2 million. It's unreal.

Sorry $2m house not 2m mortgage. I had $1 down on it. Haha. Yeah I'm not qualifying for anywhere near thar

Sherdoggers never cease to amaze me. 6'3 230 and jacked, great salaries, budget meticulously, experts on MMA/martial arts, no quarter given to THOT's, wild stuff.

Shit that's worse than participating in a World Series of Poker tournament... I knew I had yet another reason to hate golf.

I played in one of the tournaments with a 10k buy in and made it far enough to get 17k back. Not sure the 7k was worth the stress.
That's a good finish, but man those tourneys are a grind
