I was looking at the financials for a lot of these companies, and I'm really impressed with Sony's stature here. M$ has around a 1.5 trillion market cap, while sony is around 170 billion (companies as a whole). It's pretty wild that Xbox hasnt been able to climb higher sooner. This is one way to do it lol.

I really dont want to see anymore publishers join the "family" (cringe term) of Xbox, Sony or Nintendo. Hopefully Activision/Bliz is more of an outlier because of their rot and not a sign of things to come.

On a positive note, maybe Raven software can make a new Jedi Knight or Soldier of Fortune game again instead of being wasted on COD garbage. They were my fav devs for a long while. Anyone ever play Star Trek Viyageur Elite Forces? That was the shit!

Regardless, I have big issues with all the aformentioned companies/consoles. Hopefully we'll see more homegrown efforts to compete instead of locking down ip's they didn't create/foster, or timed exclusive bullshit. This is unlikely tho lol

This is another perfect example of you PS fanboys projecting your own biases onto me. I simply dismissed the idea the Switch would surpass the Xbox One in that time frame as realistic. I was wrong. This wasn't a matter of bias. The Nintendo Switch has defied all historical charting for sales. No console has ever maintained-- much less accelerated-- in sales relative to its launch the way the Switch has. My opinion was consistent with the overwhelming majority of analysts' at the time. Hell, the Switch appears likely to pass up the PS4 before all is said and done. That would have been considered inconceivable by those same analysts.

The PS4 doesn't compete with the Switch. The Wii U released at the same time as the Xbox One and PS4. So if the meme weren't PS fanboyism it would present Nintendo as 3rd place. Alternatively, if it wants to compare the Switch, it would compare active sales, and Nintendo would be first. It does neither.

I'll take that L on the Switch's unprecedented sales performance. I will always root my predictions in precedent. Meanwhile, I was years ahead of the curve in espying Phil Spencer's ambitions for the Xbox and Gamepass as the Netflix of gaming. I also predicted the future trajectory of cloud gaming (ex. that services would come as default apps to smart TVs) before anyone on this board.

That future is upon us, and yet you are the ones who cannot admit you were wrong. Sony fell asleep at the wheel. They've been arrogant, they've been complacent, and they've routinely taken their customers for granted while only belatedly following Microsoft's aggressive pro-gamer progressivism when it maked them look bad.

I already mentioned this earlier but I would love to see ID and Raven collaborate again. Raven made some great fps in years past using ID’s technology:

-Heretic/Hexen series
-Soldier of Fortune
-Star Trek Elite Force
-Quake 4
-Wolfenstein

I didn't have my own gaming pc until about 1999, so I was using my dad's computer for most of these games.

I'll never forget my friend installing Duke, Hexen, Jedi Knight, Kingpin etc... on it with about 50 floppy disks, or something crazy like that lol

That's why I would expect it to be a "Timed Exclusive".

They'll come out with it acting like it is a full exclusive to the PS5 because it is too advanced to run on the older systems, if they indeed intend a PS5 at all, and not just another update to the PS4, then after a year, they'll announce they're about to make it backwards compatible for PS4 users. Of course, this was always pageantry, but the dance will be more disingenuous than ever since the rumored PS5 will also be on AMD x86 architecture (descended from the same genealogical family) as the PS4, and all their modern PC hardware.

Also, not sure why XB1 fans were mocking PS4 fans. As I recall both consoles had joke libraries at launch. Ryse was gorgeous, but it wasn't exactly blowing anyone's minds:

Soldier of Fortune 2 was incredible at the time. The dismembering was disturbing and terrifying, especially with shotguns. Seeing bones protruding was wild. I remember playing some Matrix-like gamemode, (you could dress like an agent/men in black) where the host would turn down gravity.

The activity of the three console threads on this subforum is really representative of the sales lol. PS is most active with NS second, and trailing in last place is the Xbox.
